Before I could do or think anything, I'm standing behind Ashton.
His arms were slightly back, keeping me behind him.
I looked over his shoulder to the top of the tall boulder.
The dark haired boy that attacked me last night, stood atop the boulder.
"I thought I told you to leave her alone?" Ashton growled.
Literally, a growl, emitted from the back of his throat.
"The thing is, Ashton," The darker skinned boy said with a small grin tugging at his full like lips. "You brought her to me."
I felt Ashton tense in front of me.
"I didn't bring her to you," Ashton snapped.
"Close enough," The boy responded with a small chuckle to himself.
Ashton made another growling sound.
With any small chuckle, my attacker jumped off the tall boulder, landing on his feet with ease.
I took a couple steps back as he was suddenly so much closer.
Ashton stayed where he was, standing his ground.
"Back off, Calum," Ashton warned.
The boy, Calum, put his hands up in surrender, a teasing smile playing his lips.
"Don't worry, I've been given my orders *hi-from authors friend* but no, something will be going down, and going down soon," Calum said with a flash in his eyes.
I felt my body freeze and barely noticed when Ashton grabbed my arm, pulling me away from the electrical like clearing, from the tall boulder, away from Calum and his threat.
I walked as quickly as my feet would carry me, Ashton keeping me balanced.
He seemed so...rushed and maybe even nervous.
Why was he nervous? Was he the one with the threat?
No!
I needed to know what was going on, needed to figure out all the answers to my questions.
Would Ashton answer them or would he blow me off or just tell me to wait for another time?
Back at the house, I realized how tired I was.
Everything happening just took it out of me.
Without a word, Ashton brought me up to my room and laid me in my bed.
Instead of laying down with me or leaving, he sat next to me and soothed out my hair until I fell asleep.
The next day at school, it was 3rd period, my Theater Design class.
It was a random class that the school decided to put me in for absolutely no reason.
It was finally Friday.
After a long week, I was definitely ready for the weekend to start.
Today, Mrs. Avery had us working in the theater on some sets for the upcoming play.
I was currently sitting on the floor, painting a background when there was a short bell.
The short bell was to alert that there was about to be an announcement.
Suddenly, the bell continued for another 7-10 small rings.
Curious, everyone stood up and started looking around, most of us looking at Mrs. Avery.
She motioned us to stay out and she quickly went off stage and to the door to the auditorium.
Taking her keys out, she locked the door, and repeated her action with the other one.
Another ring and finally a voice.
"This is a lock down, I repeat, this is a lock down," An animated voice rang through. A second later it spoke again. "This is not a drill, please, this is a lockdown, I repeat, this is not a drill."
The students around me started to panic.
Mrs. Avery was once again in front of us.
"Everyone down in the orchestra pit," She said quietly.
We all filed to back stage where a door sat.
While we went through the door, down a few steps, entering the orchestra pit, Mrs. Avery set about to turn all the lights off.
She came down behind us and instructed us to sit in the farthest corner and not to say a word.
More small rings sounded again along with the recording from a few minutes ago.
We sat in fear in the dark corner under the stage.
A soft glow of light floated in through the peep strip that along the top on the side.
Some people were shaking, others rocking back and forth, and one girl had tears running down her cheeks.
A drill lockdown means it's either a practice or there's someone on the property that isn't a teacher or student.
A real lockdown means there's someone actually in the school.
We sat in dead silence, waiting for it to be over with.
For the security to find the intruder and get him out, but that never happened.
A small hissing sound made me jump.
Looking around, I could tell nobody else heard it.
Thinking it had been my imagination, I ignore it.
A few seconds later I hear it again, this time it's more defined.
Still, nobody around me was hearing it.
I strained my ears to hear it again and when it did, I felt feel clutch my chest.
"Bailey," It hissed.
I bit my lower lip.
I hear it again.
"Bailey."
I put my hands over my ears, but it doesn't muffle out the hissing.
I wanted to scream out, but I couldn't.
The front door to the auditorium rattled as someone tried to open it, making everyone freeze and tense up.
It rattled a few more times and them stopped.
Everyone held their breath, hoping the intruder went away, but know such luck.
The door suddenly blasted open with a loud sound.
A girl yelped, but it was barely heard over the sound of the door, yet someone clamped their hand over her mouth.
Her eyes were wide and afraid.
I put my fingers to my lips as her eyes met mine.
She nodded and the person let her go.
I stared intensely out the peep strip, waiting for the intruder to pass or go away.
I could still hear the hissing of my name, it getting louder as their footsteps got closer.
No doubt this was the intruder.
I watched his silhouetted a few feet away from the stage as he passed.
My heart began to hammer in my rib cage as I was able to see who it was.
No, why, no, no, no, no!!
I needed to find Ashton.
Needed to find him and tell him who the intruder is, but how?
If I move, I'll alert him.
I looked around and saw another door directly behind me.
I knew that was my escape.
I waited for him to leave the theater.
Wow, this is a wonderful start to my Friday.
