This Sucks

For the second time that day, I woke up with a pounding headache.

"I really wish I would stop waking up after I was knocked out in one way or another," I groaned out.

"Maes?" I heard the familiar voice that brought back the guilt.

I sat up in my elbows and looked around until I found the person that belonged to that silky smooth voice.

"Ashton," I said quietly.

He was in the shadows of the room in the back corner.

I scrambled to my feet and approached him carefully.

What I saw made me gasp.

Ashton, slumped against the moss covered brick wall, his arms tied above his head in metal wrists bracelets. He looked tired and weak. Not to mention, bloodied and bruised.

His right eye was black and swollen. His lower lip was cracked open and blood was still lightly dripping out of the wound.

"Oh, Ash," I said sadly.

I crouched down next to him, laying a hand gently down on thigh to steady myself.

He winced.

"I'm sorry," I said moving my hand away.

His hazel eyes met mine. They were somber instead of bright.

"I'm so sorry," I whispered.

Tears blurred my vision.

Ashton shook his head. He winced from the movement, but he still shook his head.

"Don't blame yourself," His voice came out as a croak and raspy.

"That's all I can do," I said quietly. "I should have believed you. I should have just listened to you and stayed at your house, but no, I ran away."

"If I was in your shoes," He croaked. "I would have done the same."

I sighed.

"I'm so sorry," I said again.

Before he could say anything, I shook my head.

"I'm going to make it up to you, I promise," I said.

Getting my memories back helped me remember the things that I could do.

I gently placed my hands on Ashton's chest and looked inside myself.

I searched for the white ball of energy.

Once I found it, I ran towards it and summoned it to me. I caressed it and made it feel love and health. Then I shot it threw my hands and into Ash.

He jerked and winced in pain, but then it was all over.

I felt drained, but I ignored it and checked over Ashton.

He looked all healthy again with no bruises and even all the blood was gone.

He had passed out so I slapped his face gently.

"Ashton," I called out.

His eyes flew open, startled.

"Ashton, it's ok," I said.

His eyes found mine and he relaxed.

"How do you feel?" I asked.

He looked confused and looked down.

"I feel fine," He looked at me in awe. "You remember!"

I giggled and nodded.

Before either of us said anything else, I sat up on my knees and pressed my index fingers to either side of the chain cuffs.

Summoning a little more energy, I found it within myself and melted the metal.

A few seconds later and his hands were free.

"Thank you," Ashton said rubbing his sore wrists.

I stared at him, not saying anything.

"I am so sorry," I whispered again.

Instead of saying anything, he enveloped me in his muscly arms into a tight hug.

"Do not blame yourself," He told me.

I sighed.

"It's not that easy," I said.

I felt him shake his head.

"I know, but don't beat yourself up over it," He said.

I didn't say anything.

I pulled back.

"Where are we?" I asked.

"Down in the dungeon in Luke's castle," Ash told me.

I looked around the small room with only a single window that showed into the next room.

I sat against the wall and wrapped my arms around my knees.

"Why did you come here?" I asked.

"You think I asked to come down to this damn room?" He asked.

He was avoiding the question, he knew what I meant.

I shook my head.

"Ash," I warned.

I heard him sigh.

"I was worried about you," He admitted.

He paused.

"Michael was coming up with a rescue strategy, but I couldn't wait. I had no idea what Luke could have been doing to you," He said.

I felt more guilt make my chest heavy.

Luke wasn't doing anything except try and deceive me.

"And," Ashton continued.

I stood up, not being able to sit any longer.

"I have my orders," He said standing up also.

"I was sent here with a mission," He spoke lowly, his voice sounding deep and husky. "And very specific orders."

His hazel eyes seemed to darken in color.

"What kind of orders?" I asked in a soft voice.

His eyes bore into mine as he walked closer to me.

With every step he took towards me was a step back away from him I took.

My back hit the wall and he stood directly in front of me.

He trapped me with his hands on either side of my head.

"Let's just say, it involved not doing this," He said inching closer.

His soft full lips pressed hungrily against mine in a heated kiss.

I kissed him back without hesitation.

I ran my fingers through his hair, feeling his soft curls run between my fingers.

"Well, well, well," A voice said. "What do we have here?"
