I stared at him, completely shocked.

"What?" I asked in a shaky voice.

Ashton stood up an started pacing.

"I have something I need to do and I'll only be gone for a couple days," He rushed out, still pacing. "You'll be safe here as long as you don't leave the house."

"Ashton," I spoke.

"God, what if Calum find out where I live?" He rambled to himself.

"Ashton," I repeated.

"You'll be safe here, can't leave, don't leave and he won't be able to find you," He continued.

"Ash!" I half yelled standing up.

He jumped at my sudden out burst and his worried, anxious hazel eyes met my semi-calm eyes.

"Sorry," He mumbled.

Taking a deep breath, he opened his mouth to speak.

"I'll be back in a couple days, like I said, just stay in the house and you'll be safe, there's plenty of food, cable, wifi, just make yourself at home," He said more slowly.

I shook my head.

"So, you basically hold me hostage and then leave?" I asked.

He didn't answer.

"Where are you even going?" I tried again.

"I need to go see someone," He said vaguely.

Raising an eyebrow at him, he simply shrugged his shoulders.

I could see in his eyes that I wasn't about to get out of this.

I crossed my arms over my chest and set my jaw.

"Fine," I said crisply. "Do me one thing and I'll let you leave without another word."

He watched me for a moment, contemplating my offer.

He shook his head slowly.

"I'm pretty sure I know what this one thing is and if I'm right, you won't let me leave without something to say," He commented.

He sat back down on the chair opposite the couch and leaned back.

I slowly sat down on the couch.

"What is this one thing?" He asked after we both stayed silent for a moment.

"From what you said, I'm guessing you already know, so explain," I told him sternly.

Sitting forward and resting his elbows on his knees, he thought of where to start.

"Ok, I'm just going to come out and say it," Ashton said staring at me. "I'm not going to sugarcoat it either."

I nodded, urging him to continue.

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes briefly.

Opening them again, he began.

"Hell is real," He blurted.

I felt my eyes widen.

"I'm being dead serious, too," He said seeing my expression. "Hell is real and so are demons. In fact-" He hesitated. "In fact, I'm a demon, and I live in Hell."

I stared at him in disbelief.

"Calum is also a demon and also lives in Hell," Ashton added.

I stared at him, seeing if he was simply yanking my chain.

"Right now, you have a King of one realm of Hell after you and the other King of the other realm making sure you stay safe," He continued.

I started shaking my head.

"Your l-ly-lying," I stuttered.

Ashton shook his head with seriousness.

"I not, sometimes I wish I was, but I'm not," He said getting out of his seat.

He came to a stop in front of me and crouched down.

"Princess, you know it's true, you can feel it inside yourself. It may be hiding but it's there and it's screaming to come out," Ash said quietly.

I shook my head.

At that moment, Ashton blinked.

When his eyes opened again, they weren't his usual bright hazel, but instead, they were black as night, completely dark.

I jumped back, thinking I imagined it.

I closed my eyes, hoping that I did imagine it, but when I opened my eyes again, his eyes were still completely black.

Ashton blinked again and his eyes went back to normal.

"Look inside yourself," He whispered.

Sadly, he was right.

I could feel it within, the screaming and stress of the correct answer.

"The King trying to get you, yeah, that's Calum boss. Calum is his right hand man just as I'm the right hand man of the King trying to protect you," He continued.

"Why don't I know any of this?" I asked as hot tears filled my eyes.

It was no use arguing with him, I knew he was right.

I could feel it, like he said.

"You do, it's just that your memories were altered, blocked, and different ones were temporarily put up, too keep you safe," He explained.

"What does he want with me? What does a Demon King want with boring ole me?" I questioned.

"I don't know, but please, I'll explain more when I get back, just please stay in the house until I'm back," Ashton begged.

He continued to stare at me until I nodded my head.

I could see that he physically relaxed at my answer.

He stood up and went to the front door.

He turned back to look at me still sitting on the couch, still confused, scared, sad, and emotional.

With a small sigh, he turned around, opened the door, and left.

As soon as the door shut, I broke down in tears.

What does he want with me?

Why is Ashton protecting me?

Why is the other King protecting me?

What the hell is there to block from me?

What can't I know?

With so many thoughts running through my head, I could stay still.

I stood up and paced the living room.

Walking to the kitchen and back, down the hallway, into everyone room, back again, but I just couldn't.

I need fresh air.

I need a walk.

He told me to stay in the house.

It was too dangerous outside, Calum could find me.

I could have cared less at the moment.

I rushed for the door and ran out.
