Blue Demon Part 23

" Dammit looks like no more roads from here" Nico huffed lighting up a cigarette. "alrighty, shall we " Nero said climbing out the van with you following him. "okay Nico find a way to get to the other side, we will meet you there" Nero said turning around but Nico payed him no attention as she stretched smiling at him. A giggle escaped your lips, these two where very amusing to watch.

Following behind Nero you noticed something off "Nero..what happened to your arm?" You asked concerned, you remember the devil arm he had, he tried to conceal it from everybody but with you he was much more comfortable seeing as you found his arm to be fascinating. Nero sighed and took a glance back "It was ripped off by some jerk in a dark cloak, turned out be that bastard was Urizen" Nero growled, balling his fists up frustration. "But I ques it was for the best in the end. It scared Kyrie."

...Kyrie.. the name itself made a bad taste in your mouth. You knew her and her brother Gratis as long as you knew Nero, but the difference was you were not fond of her or rather you wished she would just disappear. You cant understand what Nero sees in her and that pissed you off. She was so useless and frail that if you blew in her direction she would probable crumble. Not to mention she was afraid of Nero and that hurt him way more than she can ever know, but pushing that aside you where glad to see Nero was doing much better for himself now.

  You took Nero's mechanical arm in your hands, making him stop walking and look at you with a confused face. "Am sorry Nero, it must have been hard to come to terms with this only to have it ripped away" You whispered holding his mechanical hand softly to your face "But it still has its warmth" You said smiling cheerfully letting go of his arm, making Nero blush. Rubbing his nose "yea I ques it does" This took him back when the two of you where younger, you would always hold on to his devil arm whenever you felt sad saying that the warmth was comforting. A smile played on his lips ..so cute..

Taking a glance at Nero you saw the smirk playing on his face and wondered what he could be thinking about but before you could ask him, you where interrupted by an unknown man dressed in black. Nero introduced you to the man called V. What a mystery guy. 

"so V any idea how to take out these roots?" Nero asked poking the roots "Well yes there is, see this? " he pointed at the red node where the roots grew out of "These nodes are the life string for the roots, they transfer human blood that makes them grow, so by destroying it" V walked to the open Node, driving his cane into it. The node suddenly turned to ash, making the roots around it crumble into dust. "Weakens the demon tree"

"Lets split up to cover more ground maybe we can find more nodes that way" You suggested, Nero and V nodded in agreement the more you take out the weaker the demon king will become. So splitting tree ways, you decided to take the route to the Burrow Market. You frowned when you saw the market destroyed, all that's standing are the buildings on either side. This place used to be full of live, with stalls full of fresh food and cheery smiles. You noticed something that would be a problem so far all that's keeping this place in tack was the demon roots keeping it all together, this made things bit harder. Kicking a can in frustration, it bounced against a sign landing on a odd object. You froze when it moved revealing to be a sleeping basilisk. "o ..shit" 

YOu had come across them before but they where vicious and fast. You quickly grabbed your sword just as the demon jumped towards you. Blocking it just in time as its claws met your blade, mere inches from your face. Dammit. But suddenly you heard gunshots fired, the basilisk body dropped dead in front of you.

"Good thing I decided to follow you" Nero said walking up to you. You breathed a sigh of relief "Thanks" you whispered bit embarrassed. Nero walked to the expose node that the basilisk where protecting. Your eyes winded "Nero No!" but it was to late as his sword penetrated the node, turning it to dust. Your eyes followed the roots at it turned grey and then turn to ash. The ground started to rumble as bits and pieces gave way. Nero jumped back narrowly missing being crushed by a boulder. The entire market place was collapsing

"We have to get out of here!" Nero yelled, running towards you. But as he reached for you the ground beneath your feet disappeared as you took a step forward. Nero reached for your hand just missing it by inches

"Lyka!"
