My best friend Jawahir and I boarded the bus that was headed toward the campus of the university we would be attending. The bus was close to empty as it was still summer vacation and many students were on break. Jawahir sported vacant seats towards the back of the bus and lead me towards it. Once we had sat down, I heard her let out a deep sigh.

"Why do we have to go to campus a month before we actually start classes? We could be at the beach right now.." I let out a small laugh as I nudged her shoulder in attempts to cheer her up. "You know we need to pick up stuff for orientation. Better do it early and beat the crowd come fall. And we can look around the campus."

Jawahir put on a small smile and went back to looking at her surroundings when she spotted something that made her grin widely. I felt a tap on my shoulder as I saw her point at two boys who were sitting in the front. "I didn't know guys like them lived in this area. Those two guys are way too good looking to be real! Plus one of them was totally checking you out!"

I took one glance at the boys in the front and Jawahir was right. They looked as if they came out of a magazine. I scoffed as I looked out the window to see the passing terrain. "Yeah right. I'm fresh out of high school and wearing the plainest clothes ever. Why would he be checking me out?"

Jawahir shrugged her shoulders and she let her head rest on my shoulder. "Who knows? Maybe that guy actually is attracted the the beautiful girl right next to me? You should talk to him. It looks like him and his friend are getting off at the university like us." I sighed as I shook my head. "Maybe.. but right now, I don't feel confident enough to talk to him."

Jawahir nodded as she gave me a quick hug. "Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. Now, wake me up once we get to the campus." I smiled as I watched Jawahir doze off, her head still on my shoulder. I decided to take one last glance at the boy only to see him already staring at me.

He had sharp features and eyes with so much charisma. Once our eyes met, I watched as he slowly looked away, a smile still planted on his lips. I felt my face begin to heat up from embarrassment as I continued to look out the window.

Once we had gotten on campus, I woke up Jawahir and we got off. I was looking around to see where the boy had gone but I couldn't seem to find him. Jawahir noticed and a playful smile painted its way onto her lips. "Say (Y/N), could it be you are looking for the guy who was totally checking you out on the bus?"

My ears began to get red as soon as Jawahir caught on to what I was doing. I shook my head vigorously. "No! I was just looking for the office. We need to go there to pick up our packages for orientation." As Jawahir and I began to look for where to begin walking, a soft voice interrupted us.

"Excuse me.." I turned around to see the boy from the bus, a friendly smile on his face. "Are you two looking for the office as well? My friend and I have been trying but we couldn't find anything." At that moment, I was tongue-tied. It was as if no words were coming out of my mouth. Luckily, Jawahir saved me from the embarrassment by answering for us.

"Yeah. We got lost and we wanted to pick up our orientation packages before classes start." Jawahir pulled me close and smiled widely at the two boys. "By the way, I'm Jawahir and this is my best friend (Y/N). We're in the Theatre program."

The two boys smiled back as the boy from the bus introduced themselves. "My bane is Hangyul and this is my friend Dohyun. We're in the Dance program. It's nice to meet you Jawahir and (Y/N)." He extended his hand out for a handshake, but pointed in my direction. I smiled, slightl shocked, but returned his handshake.

Hangyul's smile grew bigger as I held onto his hand for what seemed like forever. It was wasn't until Jawahir and Dohyun got our attention that I snapped back to reality. Dohyun pointed down a path that lead to a large glass building. "The office is this way. Jawahir and I found it. Let's go get our packages and hang out later! You guys okay with that?"

Jawahir and I nodded as approval and we began to walk towards the office; Jawahir and Dohyun in front of us and Hangyul and I trailing behind them.

There was an awkward silence between us and it was evident that we both wanted to talk to each other, but didn't know how to start the conversation. I finally gathered the courage to initiate something.

"Jawahir and I saw you guys on the bus. She went on and on about how you were checking me out. Isn't that funny?" Hangyul let out a deep chuckle as he looked at me. "But I was. Sorry if I seemed creepy. I guess you really caught my eye once I saw you get on the bus."

My checks became extremely red as I looked down to hide it. Once we had reached the office and grabbed our packages, we headed back to the bus stop to figure out what to do next.

Before anyone could suggest anything, Jawahir gave me a small smile and apologized. With me confused, she began to explain. "I got called into work last minute. Sorry, I can't hang out."
I shook my head and looked at the two boys. "It's fine. I'll just hang out with Hangyul and Dohyun."

I heard Dohyun let out a nervous laugh as he apologized as well. "My mom wants me back home right away. Sorry.." Before I could say anything, the two hopped on the bus. I sighed as I looked at Hangyul only to see him smiling. "Why are you smiling? You realized our friends just ditched us, right?"

Hangyul nodded as he looked at me. "I told them to leave. I want to spend time getting to know you. I know we have the next 4 years but, why not start early. So, would you like to hang out with me today (Y/N)?"

It took me a minute to process what he had just said, but once I did, the brightest smile painted its way onto my lips as I nodded. With our hands intertwined, we began to walk around the campus, learning more and more about each other with every passing minute.
