"Hey (Y/N)! How was class?"

A smile made its way to my face when I heard the voice of my best friend, Lee Hangyul.

"Pretty good, I guess. I mean, I slept for half the class, but at least I went, right?"

Hangyul rolled his eyes as he playfully smacked my head. I winced in pain as I simply took my punishment. Once he sat down, the two of us immediately started a conversation, jumping to different topics every once in a while.

Even though I had known Hangyul since middle school, we never spoke to each other that much. It wasn't until our last year of high school when our friend groups became closer to one another that we began to have a friendship.

Soon, that small friendship blossomed into something so much more, with me relying on Hangyul and trusting him with everything I told him. Now that we both ended up in the same university, I felt safer and more comfortable knowing that I had someone to rely on.

While deep in conversation, I felt my phone vibrate, indicating that I received a notification. I ignored it at first thinking it was a a spam post, but soon, my phone was blowing up with notifications. Confused, I picked up my phone to see what the cause of all the messages were.

As concerned as I was, Hangyul leaned forward and asked "Who is it?" Upon opening the message, I smiled a bit seeing who it was from.

"Its from Han Seungwoo. He DM'ed me a couple of days ago and we've been talking a lot. He's in his 3rd year of Business and he's pretty good-looking. Look!"

I showed Hangyul his Instagram page, the screen filled with pictures of the handsome man. Hangyul shrugged as he handed my phone back to me. "He's okay looking, I guess. Not better looking than me, right?"

I scoffed as I continued to message Seungwoo. My eyes widened at the message he had sent me. "Look! He's inviting me out tonight to a bar for some drinks." Hangyul looked at the message, an uneasy look in his eyes.

"I don't think you should go, (Y/N). You have a test tomorrow. I think it's kind of suspicious that a guy you've known for only a few days wants to meet you at a bar. I mean, why would a third year guy like that even bother with a first year student?"

A felt a shot be taken to my heart when I heard Hangyul's words. "So what, you think I'm not good enough? I thought you'd be happy for me! I've always talked about wanting a relationship and this could be it. But instead of being happy for me, you just had to pull me down."

Before Hangyul could retaliate, I grabbed my things and headed home for the day so I could get ready to meet Seungwoo.

.•.•.•.

Night fall had approached and I walked into the bar Seungwoo wanted to meet at. After scanning the room, I saw his face and as we made eye contact, he sent me a bright smile that made my heart flutter. Once I made it to the table he was at, I noticed a few other older men.

"Hey (Y/N)! These are my friends Wooseok and Seungyeon. They'll be joining us, if that's okay." I saw the two other boys smile at me as I returned their greetings and sat down.

As the night progressed, the four of us talked a lot with Wooseok bringing over drinks every few minutes and Seungwoo encouraging me to drink them.

Cup after cup, I began to feel tipsy as the space I had became smaller. I could feel Seungwoo's hot breath on my neck and his hand dangerously high up on my thigh. In that moment, I froze as I didn't know what to do. Seungyeon and Wooseok covered the two of us, making it unaware to everyone else what was really going on. I closed my eyes as tightly as I could and prayed for someone to help me and just as Seungwoo was about to forever scar me—

A loud bang hit the table we were seated at. My eyes shot wide open as I turned to see where the noise was coming from. There in front of me, face red with anger was Hangyul. With his teeth gritted, he began to warn the three males by clearly stating "If you so much as touch a hair on her head ever again,
I will personally make sure you don't exist anymore. Got it?"

Before they could test his patience, the three men nodded and ran out of the bar. Once they were gone, Hangyul helped me out of the bar and when I inhaled the fresh air, I felt my world collapse as I broke down. But Hangyul was there to catch me and hold me.

He soothes me, telling me that everything was going to be alright and once I had finally finished, he began to walk me home. On our way, I looked at my best friend and finally apologized. "I'm sorry for not listening to you. I should've. I was just really excited to know that somebody liked me."

Hangyul sighed as he pulled me closer, dangling his arm over my shoulder. "(Y/N), I know you want to be in a relationship, but I also need you to understand that there's a lot of bad guys out there that want to take advantage of your kindness. And as long as I'm around, that won't happen. I can guarantee that."

We both laughed as we walked further down the path towards my house. "Well with you around, I guess I won't be getting in a relationship anytime soon." And with that, Hangyul stopped in his tracks. Confused, I looked back as he smiled at me.

"What if I were your boyfriend? Not your pretend boyfriend that just wants you to know how a relationship feels like, but your real boyfriend? The one that loves and cherishes everything about you."

I stood there, shocked at his sudden proposal. "But what happens if things don't work out? What happens to our friendship?" Hangyul began to walk closer to me as he said " Whether we stay in a relationship or not, I will still be the same Hangyul you love (Y/N). I'm not going to leave your side, ever. But you want to feel loved so damn it, let me love you. Please?"

Without a doubt in my mind, I nodded with a wide smile on my face as Hangyul began to do the same. After giving me a tight hug, he leaned in and placed a deep kiss on my cheek as I blushed from his sudden action.

"Now, wanna help me cram as much information into my brain I can for my test tomorrow?" Hangyul nodded as he gestured towards the door.  "Lead the way love."
