'There has to be a proper reason for me being in this situation... there has to be..'

I kept on repeating the same thing in my mind over and over again because I couldn't get over the reality that was in front of me. There at lunch, I sat with my two best friends— OR should I say in between my two best friends and their boyfriends.

It was our senior year and I could see how much my best friends liked their boyfriends. Heck, I helped both of them get into the relationships their in now. But with high school ending soon, I couldn't help but wonder if I was going to have the same fate as theirs.
One of my friends, Jihyo, noticed my facial expression and immediately added me in to the conversation.

"So guys! Are we excited for our senior trip or what? I heard we get to go to Jeju and have some fun on the island. We have to make plans, right Hyuna?" I looked over and watched as my other best friend, Hyuna, finally realize that there was another conversation happening as she broke away from her boyfriend. "Obviously! We should have a girls night tonight so that we can plan stuff ahead of time. We haven't really had one of those in a while and I'm starting to miss them."

I started to smile as Jihyo and I immediately agreed with Hyuna's idea. Jihyo's boyfriend pouted as he pulled Jihyo closer. "I thought we were supposed to have a date night, love? We've been planning it for a week now." My smile soon faded away once I heard that as I continued to eat my lunch. Jihyo noticed once again and glared at her boyfriend. "I know Dan, but this is more important. Now boys, away!"

Hyuna and Jihyo shooed away their boyfriends as they sat closer to me. I let out a small laugh and looked at the two of them. "You didn't need to tell them to leave. Seriously, we can just reschedule the girls night. Go have fun on your date." Hyuna frowned as she pulled me closer by my shoulders. "Listen to me (Y/N). We are doing this girls night. Period. Besides, my hoes before my boy. Right?" She looked at Jihyo who nodded in agreement immediately. "We haven't spent much time with you. At least let us make up for that." My smile soon came back and we soon started to talk like the old days.

School was finally over and all three of us made our way to my house. My parents were still at work so the house was pretty empty. Once we entered, I gestured the girls to go up to my room as I got us drinks. I entered my room, a tray of drinks in my hand as I noticed that they already had become comfortable. We soon began to talk about our lives, for them mostly about their love lives.

Though as the single friend, it was a common fact that hearing about your friend's happy love life made you desperately want the same. After hours of talking and catching up, Hyuna looked at me and asked me her burning question. "(Y/N), does it make you annoyed when you see us with our boyfriends? I mean, I haven't noticed until now but they do hang out with us a lot that we haven't really had a long girls talk like this in forever."
