I wandered around the street, trying to find the address my mother wrote down for me. She had told me that a family friend of hers had a business party to go to and didn't want to leave their son alone. So, being my mother, she insisted that I would hang out with the boy at their house until the parents arrived.
I let out a frustrated sigh as I continued to walk. "I could've been watching Netflix in bed but now I have to babysit a stupid teenager.."
I finally found the house number and proceeded to knock on the door. The door swung open and I was greeted by an older woman and man dressed up. I gave them a small smile as they let me in."Oh (Y/N), thank you so much! We would have been in big trouble if you hadn't pulled through." I shook my head and let out a small laugh. "It's fine Mrs. Nam. You two have a fun night. I'm sure your son and I will have our own." I looked around the area, but found no sight of a boy.
Mrs. Nam noticed and smiled. "If you're looking for Dohyun, he's in the living room. He probably has his music too loud to hear us. Just tap on his shoulder and you'll get his attention. Goodbye!" I waved at the two as they exited the house. I closed the door and made my way to the living room to see a figure with their hood up and huge headphones on.
I walked towards the individual and tapped his shoulder. He flinched at the sudden contact but relaxed once he realized I was no threat. He took off his headphones and hood and looked at me with a small frown. "So you're the girl who I have to hang out with?
I rolled my eyes at his tone of voice as I took a seat on the couch next to him. "Hey, I didn't want to spend my night with a preteen anyways. How old are you? 13?14?" I saw the boy glare at me as he huffed out his response. "I'm 16 for your information. I'm almost done high school. And I'm pretty popular at my school so you should be thankful you get to hang out with me."
I let out a laugh as I leaned deeper into the chair. "Trust me, high school popularity is stupid and has no place in the real world. You're not even going to see half the kids who knew you when you graduate. I learned that the hard way.." I looked to my side to see the boy's eyes soften. I stuck my hand out in his direction with a small smile. "My names (Y/N). it's nice to meet you."
The boy let out a laugh as he took my hand. "Nam Dohyun. Nice to meet you noona" I nodded in agreement. "So, what do you wanna do now? We got all night". Dohyun's eyes lit up as he pulled up a movie on the screen. "I've been wanting to watch this movie, but all of my friends are too scared to watch it with me. Do you like scary movies noona?" I nodded as I stood up and headed towards the kitchen. "You put the movie in, and I'll go make two big bowls of popcorn."
Dohyun agreed as he quickly selected the movie and turned off all the lights. When I had returned, I saw the couch was now filled with pillows and blankets with Dohyun at the centre with a huge smile plastered on his face. I smiled back as I handed him a bowl and we started to watch the movie.
Halfway into the movie, I was beginning to get cold as I pulled on of the blankets closer to my body. I looked over to see how Dohyun was doing, only to find him dozing off. I smiled at his actions and my hand made its way to the side of his head, gently placing it on my shoulder. In a matter of minutes, he had fallen into a deep sleep and after a while, I went with him.
The next morning, I had woken up to the smell of coffee and pancakes. Once my eyes had fully adjusted, I had realized I was still in Dohyun's house. I looked to my side and still saw him sleeping on my shoulder. I gently placed him on the couch as I walked into the kitchen to see Mrs.Nam with a smile on her face. I greeted her as I stretched my body. "I should probably call my mom. She must be worried."
Dohyun's mom shook her head. "Don't worry (Y/N). I told you mother that you would be staying the night since we had come back so late. I also want to thank you for hanging out with Dohyun. He has so many friends, but none have ever hung out with him outside of school. I can tell last night changed him a lot."
I smiled at her comment and shook my head. "It was my pleasure. If Dohyun ever needs a friend, he can always count on me." After having breakfast quick, I went back to the living room to see Dohyun still sleeping. I quickly wrote up a note and placed it beside him before I left.
Dear Dohyun.
