My limbs felt extremely heavy, like I was about to give out at any moment. My head was lulled back to lean against the wall, a water pressed into the palm of my sweaty hand. My legs ached along with the heaviness of my body with my left hip, inner thigh, and neck to add onto it.
"That was fantastic!" the man yelled excitedly in front of me, his eyes dazzling. This was Hoseok, his proud, happy self for whatever I accomplish.
"I'm going to throw up," I croaked out, pressing my hand against my forehead. That was a bit of an exaggeration, but I did feel a bit nauseous. It wasn't a good feeling to have.
"How did you do all of that? What did I miss?" he continued, his eyes widening at his emphasis. He came over and plopped down on the chair beside me, leaning in a little in the process. "I never thought you had that ability!"
"Surprise."
"They're all good in the backroom," another voice chipped in, the sound of footsteps echoing in the distance a little. I lazily turned my eyes that way, finding Jungkook walking wearily behind Yoongi. It was Yoongi that had spoken.
Yoongi stopped on the other side of me, his hands shoved in his pockets. Jungkook stayed behind, eyeing the two men on either side of me with caution. Yoongi continued. "Whatever you need to get done is ready. We smashed all the security tapes and tied all the guys up so it makes it easy on you."
I gave Yoongi a weak smile but with gratitude behind it. "Thanks."
Hoseok leaned in to my ear that time, myself seeing him eye Jungkook off in the distance. I heard a smirk in his tone as he asked, "Is that the boy?"
I rolled my eyes, pulling the best I could away from Hoseok. I ignored his question, but my face turned a bright red. With a small squeal from the man, I said, "Thanks, guys. I know the drill: you were never here."
"Good girl," Yoongi smiled, ruffling my hair for a second. His attention slowly turned away from me, though, and over to Jungkook, who was trying to hide. "Who are you and what do you have to with Y/N?"
I grabbed Yoongi's wrist, trying to take his eyes off Jungkook. If Yoongi and Hoseok found out about who he was, we would be screwed. "Boyfriend, partner in crime, however you want to put it."
Jungkook's shoulders lifted a little like there had been a weight on it. He gave me a faded smile, it having some shyness and thankfulness in it. I returned it quickly.
Yoongi brought his gaze back to the guy, looking him up and down. He gave a large huff after a second. "Cute, tall, good looking, not a coward. You got a good one, Y/N. I'm proud of you."
My eyebrows knitted together in confusion at Yoongi. "Thanks?"
"Now, tell us," Hoseok cried, shaking my shoulder to get an answer out of me. "How did you do all of that?"
"Yeah," Yoongi chimed in, an eyebrow raising from him. "Explain the cracks on the floor and you still standing with those bullet holes."
"Oh . . . " I trailed off, whatever smile I had dying off. I gripped my water bottle a little tighter. "That thing . . . "
"There's superheroes on the street," Hoseok started, still excited and hyped up, "are you a supervillian?"
I stifled back a laugh, biting down on my lip to keep it in. Of course Hoseok would think of that. "No, I'm not a supervillian nor a superhero." I had to avoid Jungkook's stare at the last word. "I just have . . . powers."
"Well, damn, Y/N," Yoongi laughed a little, "you're high and mighty up there, huh?"
My face started to feel hot. I covered half of it with my hand. "Please don't tell anyone. This can't get out."
"Of course we won't," Yoongi reassured, still giving me the same look he always did when a secret was safe. "I don't know about you, but I think boyfriend over there might spill it."
Jungkook seemed to stiffen up a little at that, but a small giggle came out of me. I looked at him while saying, "No, I think the secret's safe with him."
"If you insist," Yoongi shrugged. He backed away from me and waved Hoseok over. "Come on. We gotta head back to get ready for tonight." He turned over to Jungkook while Hoseok was skipping over and said, "Hey boyfriend, don't try anything stupid or she'll beat the hell out of you."
"Oh, just go already. He doesn't need the teasing," I waved them to go. "Love you guys."
"Love you too!" Hoseok sang, waving at me then at Jungkook. I watched him drag Yoongi out of the warehouse the two talking between each other happily.
Once they were gone for good, I sighed while leaning back against the wall again. I closed my eyes, hearing Jungkook walk over to me. There was some scuffling until he sat down beside me, his hand taking mine with our fingers lacing together.
"Holy shit, I didn't know I was meeting your dads," Jungkook murmured with a nervous laugh. I laughed along, too, opening my eyes to look over at him.
Our eyes met for a second, his still their side selves, but they still seemed a bit shaken up, which I found odd. The way he looked didn't seem like himself, a kind of fear behind the brown of his eyes. That made me confused. Why would be be afraid? Was he afraid of me?
"Hey, you okay?" I whispered, my eyebrows furrowing together. My hand held on a little tighter to his. He didn't seem to mind. At least he wasn't moving away from me.
"I . . . " he started, but faltered. His voice didn't start back up until another moment later. "I've never seen you the way you were thirty minutes ago. Not even in the two years I've had encounters with you. You . . . You were terrifying. I'm not going to lie, but you were absolutely terrifying."
My stomach dropped at the sound of that, my body feeling drawn over to gaze at the guy I had thrown to the ground on the shelf. Looking in the memory, his head seemed like it had basically exploded. Just thinking I did that was scary to me. I hadn't acted that rash in years.
"That hasn't happened for a long time," I breathed out, not daring to meet Jungkook's gaze again. "I've been able to control it, but that was my teenage years that came out today. That was when I went absolutely haywire."
"You were one hell of a teenager."
That caught me off guard. I gave a snicker at that then slapped Jungkook's arm after. "Don't make me laugh at that!"
Jungkook laughed a little with me. "I didn't think that you could ever do that. That was a whole other level of horror. If you did that all the time, you would be a Class 4 Ego, no doubt in that."
"Wow, I got moved up."
Jungkook chuckled again, his face turning towards me with his lips falling against my temple. He sat there for a second, only to sigh and pull away a little.
"In all seriousness, though," I huffed out a breath, pressing my head against the wall again while looking at him, "we should probably put my teenage years in the back, dark corners of our mind so we can go get answers out of those dumbasses that are sitting in there."
"Yeah, probably," Jungkook sighed. His lips suddenly met mine for a short moment. I was taken back at the suddenness, but he pulled away and said, "Let's go find out what they have to tell us."
