I threw a pillow at Jungkook's face, who was on the couch. He gave a small cry as it hit him, a smirk daring to tug at my lips. "You're taking the couch until we can get out of here."
Jungkook held the pillow now down in his hands, his eyes scrolling over the flowery pattern that covered it. After staring at it, he turned back up to me, saying, "Before you head to bed, we need to discuss what's happening."
"You really think I was going to bed?" I raised an eyebrow at him, walking towards the small kitchen. I had ran the coffee machine before setting up Jungkook, a pot waiting for me to take. I went to some cupboards to retrieve two mugs. "I have too much on my mind and a stranger in my house. Not happening."
When placing the two cups on the counter and starting to pour the coffee into them, Jungkook placed his pillow down on the cushions beside him. "I think who came to our base was someone I haven't had the time to apprehend yet. I was going to work on it this upcoming week, but you're appearance got in the way."
I grabbed some sugar and creamer, pouring them in the scalding liquids. "Do you mind telling me who this person is?"
"I'm afraid you already know who it is."
I paused for a second when I threw an empty sugar packet across the counter. I sucked on my tongue for a moment, turning my gaze up to Jungkook. He had a grave look on his face. "Who?"
He breathed in a long draw of air, then almost whispered, "Kim Taehyung."
I stared at him in disbelief for a second, then laughed it off nervously. I took the mugs into hand and started off into the living room to join Jungkook. "Taehyung? The guy that tried to set us up? There's no way. He's too kind and sweet."
"I've probably known him as long as you have," Jungkook said, taking the coffee mug from my hands that I was offering. The dark look on his face still remained. "I've built up my trust over the years with him, but I knew who he was all along. He's not what he appears to be."
I sat myself down on the floor, taking a sip of my coffee, it still tasting bitter. It also, though, warmed me from the cold of outside and the sweat that coated my body. I needed to wash up. "Then who is he?"
"Class 4: Ego 4," Jungkook murmured, staring off into space like he was trying to recall information. "He's Class 4 because he's a high risk for danger to society. His work is pure genius like yours was: covered every track, never left a witness in his path, just an overall almost psychopathic personality. The worst he's ever done was run his own underground company to the ground and killed all his employees for reasons we can't determine."
I bit down on my lip, my stomach turning a little at that. I never killed anyone out of evil; just out of protection. Thinking about Taehyung killing maybe over twenty people made me want to be sick. I reached a hand up to my face, rubbing my lips for a moment. "That doesn't sound anything close to who he is."
"It's all true."
"And you think he was the one that invaded the compound?" I asked, placing my hand back down on the side of my coffee mug. It warmed my cold fingers up instantly.
Jungkook nodded with taking a sip of his coffee. After, he placed it down on the coffee table in front of him that was littered with trash and newspapers. "He figured out who I am a few days ago. He tried to kill me, but I got away to rethink of a plan of action. With what kind of power he has and how smart he is, I'm pretty sure he figured out where the Services was."
"So we have a crazy man on our hands," I sighed. "Just wonderful."
"You give us a slight upper hand," Jungkook pointed out, kicking off his shoes and pushing them over to the side of the couch. "With how smart you are and how Taehyung doesn't suspect a thing from you, we have an advantage to capture him."
"I don't know how you plan on doing that, but sure," I shrugged, still feeling a bit sick and shocked. Hearing how one of my friends was secretly an Ego like me was a lot to take in. "But what about everyone else at the compound?"
"We can figure that out when we've detained Taehyung," Jungkook said, his voice falling a bit flat when he said that. He didn't seem to like his statement all too much. "Until then, we're only focused on the problem and to keep everyone safe."
"Does he have some sort of secret base or something?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "From what you're describing it sounds like he does."
"We have the apartment number," he said, taking his coffee into hand for a moment again and taking a sip. "Since Taehyung knows about who I am, you can go there and maybe detain him if possible because you're still low on the radar."
"I know where his apartment is," I waved a hand Jungkook's direction like I was waving him off. "I've known Taehyung for a couple of years. We hang out sometimes. I can easily get there and try to arrest him or whatever you guys do when you catch a bad guy."
Jungkook's eyes stared at me coldly for a second, not seeming to be quite happy with my last few words. He brushed it off, though, to keep making the plan. "Call him in the morning and see what's up. The objective is to try and get yourself into his apartment."
"Or I can just show up. That's what I normally do."
He looked at me blankly for a moment, then shook his head with what looked like a bit of disappointment. "Why?"
"Keep things simple, easy, natural," I emphasized, my lips quirking up just a little. "It's not normal for me to call him before I come over. If you want to make things less suspicious, then let's follow my daily life and not mix it with the good and politeness of yours."
Jungkook looked a bit taken back at my slight command and leadership, his eyes widening a little. He stared at me for a moment, then said, "I'm just going to say yes because you're the smart one between the two of us."
"Good," I said with a sharp nod. I got up with my coffee in hand, running a hand through my greasy hair from the sweat that poured down me earlier. "Now, I'm going to take a shower. I'm locking my door, but don't worry, I'm not running off."
I started walking towards my bedroom that was off to the side, still coffee in hand. I wasn't planning on sleeping. There were too many risks, not including Jungkook at the place. I usually didn't sleep too well anyways, so it would be easy to keep watch and wait for morning to arrive.
Pausing at my doorway, I bit down on my tongue for a moment. The rustling of Jungkook setting up his sleeping area stopped, myself feeling his eyes bore into me. It took me a minute to open my mouth and speak. "Two things: your x-ray vision isn't allowed for anything in this house and if someone comes to the door at all, don't answer it please."
Jungkook murmured behind me, "What . . . ?" but I just ignored him as I made my way into my room again and locked the door behind me.
The sinking feeling in my stomach was becoming a little bit achy, but I tried to ignore it the best I could.
