The wolf.

The next morning, River was nervous.

She arrived at school pretty early and walked inside the building with her phone in her hand.

She texted Samantha, telling her and Loan to not wait for her in the cafeteria, for she had to do some things before class.

Sam: What kind of stuff? Are you trying to impress your father again?

River: Kinda. I'll tell you more later. Gotta go.

River locked her smartphone and walked to Jones office's door within his classroom.

After knocking a couple of times she waited, but nobody came to open. River sighed softly.

Maybe she got the time wrong, maybe he meant after class. Maybe she dreamed the whole thing.

As she was about to turn around and exit, somebody crashed into her, sending books scattering all around.

"What-the.." She closed her eyes as she lost her balance, but a pair of strong arms caught her just in time.

"I am so sorry, River. I was carrying all those books and didn't see you standing there."

Professor Jones was holding her by her shoulders, his fingers were expecting a little more muscle that wasn't there.

River blushed and interrupted their contact.

"M-my bad." She said in a hurry, stepping back and then bending down to help him with his books.

Sebastian watched the perfect, elegant coordination of the boy's movement. He seemed so gentle, so precise in everything he did.

The teacher stood close to River, watching her as the pieces of that puzzle weren't going in place.

Then it hit him.

The boy's scent.

Sebastian hadn't paid attention to that detail before, simply because he had seen River always surrounded by girls, that was why his brain and his nose, had been fooled.

But now, having him there, alone with him this early... River couldn't have had any contact with any girl in school yet.

It was too early, no students were around other than him.

Sebastian furrowed his brow as his wolf sense of smell investigated the rush of female pheromones he had just picked up.

"So... did your friends come early too?" He asked.

River shook her had setting up the pile of books. "Nah, they wouldn't show up earlier just to be supportive." She chuckled and there it was again, he was clearly masking his real tone of voice.

Sebastian grew more suspicious. He had read River's file and he knew he was an only child, living with his father because his mother passed away when he was four. Therefore he couldn't be carrying his mother's scent.

Sebastian opened the door of his office and gathered some of the books. "Would you mind?" He asked as he pointed at the books.

River stood up and took the rest in her arms. "Of course not, sir."

Jones nodded as in to thank him and let him enter the office first.

There was no doubt anymore.

River Carter let out a delicate, feminine scent.

The pheromones Sebastian kept smelling, couldn't be coming from River's clothes or some object he had on him.

It was coming from the boy himself...but...how?
