The puppet master.

2 days from River's disappearance.

Charles refused to call the police or reveal to anyone that River had been abducted.

It can't be possible.

He was completely in shock. Sitting in his study, he kept running over a list of the people that he thought could be behind this sick game.

Because he thought that was all that it was. A game.

Except he wasn't the one in control this time.
And that, terrorized him.

He was always the one pulling the strings, he was always planning every step of River's life.

His son's life was meant to be perfect.
And if River's life was perfect. His own would be too. River would fix up all of Charles' mistakes.

His son was his own perfect puppet.

3 days from River's disappearance.

Loan and Samantha were trying desperately to find the girl Charles had spoken about, with no results.

Samantha printed out some "Have you seen me?" signs and started hanging them around the campus, with Loan's help.

Sebastian felt bad for them, they really seemed to care about River, not like her father who didn't even bother to call the school or anything.

He was acting like nothing ever happened.

It made Sebastian furious.

So furious, that after the third day of silence, Jones picked up his phone and dialed Charles' home number.

He answered right away.

"Carter. Who is it?" He sounded like he had been drinking.

"It's Sebastian Jones, Mister Carter." Sebastian wanted to kill him.

"Jones. Shit." He muttered the last part.

"I haven't seen River in three days, Mister Carter. His friends are hanging missing signs at the school. What is going on?" Sebastian tried to sound calm.

"What? Those idiots. Dammit."

"Where is River, Carter?" He wanted him to admit it. "Where is your son?"

Something crashed on the other side of the phone.

"I don't know." Charles spat in frustration.  "I don't fucking know where is he."

Sebastian took a long pause before speaking.

"Did you talk to the police?" He asked.

Charles took a while to reply.
"They told me to wait a few days." He lied. "They said he's over 18 and there is nothing they can do."

You, lying piece of shit.
Sebastian thought for himself.

"I see. He wouldn't answer to his cellphone. Is it at the house?"

Charles took a brief pause again before answering Jones' question.
"I do not know. I have to go now, Jones."
