Trial and Error.
Part I

A gentle breeze was caressing the trees of the little meadow where Sebastian and River were resting.

Closing her eyes, she felt absolute peace. She knew the day of the Trial was approaching but she wasn't scared.

She had done all of her homework, since she knew Charles way too good.

He was an absolute shark when it came to being in a courtroom and she was sure he would choose to defend himself.

That meant that he would probably try to convince the judge that she needed mental help. She could feel it.

With Nicolae's help, she went through every possible allegation her father could make and how to counter it.

The vampire had offered the chance to use his powers over her dad or even the whole courtroom. River appreciated the offer but she didn't want to do that. In her eyes it looked like cheating.

But she did accept to have the Bartholy as her lawyer, since he really seemed to know a lot.

Sebastian had also gathered a lot of people he knew, told them River's story and organized for them to come support her at the Trial. She needed all the help she could get.

"River?" Sebastian's soft voice grabbed her attention.

"Uh?" She looked up at him.

Jones smiled and caressed her face. "Are you okay? "

She nodded and rested her head on his shoulder. "Yeah." She smiled, fueling the fire inside him.

Sebastian pulled her closer in his arms to kiss her lips.

"I like this." She admitted, sighing softly, relaxing. She just wanted to be there in his arms, forever.

"I do too." He told her, leaving a few kisses on her neck, feeling her chest free from the binding.

"You will never have to use that ever again."
He spoke softly, looking into her eyes.

River blushed with a smile.
"Never again. " She repeated.

Sebastian nodded and kissed her more, deeply, happy just from having her so close.

"How about a ride, what do you think?" He asked her.

River looked at him. "Really? You know I love that." She chuckled and sat up better, watching him take off his clothes.

River touched his chest softly before he shape shifted. She added them to her backpack and wore it on her back then climbed on Sebastian.

He made a funny sound that made her laugh, before taking off into the dark.

River loved to ride into the forest with him. It made her feel free, with nothing to worry about.

There was only her, him, and the stars above them.

River sat down on the wooden bench, resting her arm on the table in front of her, examining her surrounding.
There was a bottle of water for each of the chairs on it.

She took a deep breath in and turned to make sure Sebastian was still there.

He was talking with some people she didn't know.

As she sighed, Nicolae sat down next to her.
"Don't worry. He is not going anywhere. "

She looked at him and nodded. She was a nervous wreck.
