Chapter Thirty Four: Secrets Out

"Okay Riley you have to understand why you are one of our main subjects in the Midge Clump murder case." Sheriff Keller stated. He sat across from me, his hands folded in front of him on the table and he looks completely worn out and tired.

"Why me? I didn't even know Midge." I questioned. They can't put me away without a good reason.

"Yes That May be true, but you didn't know the black hood either and you beat him to death. Right now as far as I know and the public know, your the only person walking free on the streets with a murder on your hands." He looked right through me and I didn't like it. I didn't kill Midge.

"Where were you before the show today?" He questioned. I stiffened, with no alibi I stood no chance. Then the doors of the questioning room flew open.

"She was home sheriff in bed. She wasn't feeling well. I gave her soup and me and her watched movies before she got dressed to come to the show." JugHead said taking a seat next to me. I mentally thanked him for coming in at the right time. Sheriff Keller nodded.

"Alright no further questions. If we find something we'll call you." He got up and left me and JugHead sitting in the room. I could tell by the look on his face something was up, something bad.

"Riley, you got home a 4am last night. And don't say you were with Sweet Pea because I know that's not true." Shit. I didn't even know he was home last night.

"I was out for a late walk to clear my head and sat at Sweet water river for awhile okay. My heads been buzzing lately. sorry Jug." I looked up hoping he would believe me but he shook his head.

"I don't believe you but for right now I'll take it. Come on let's go home we have a funeral to go to tomorrow."

Midgets funeral was the same as any other I've been to. People wearing black and crying. I stood next to Sweet Pea and held his hand. Fangs was next to me and I saw a few tears slip down his face. Guess he was closer to Midge than I thought.

Cheryl finished singing a song and then called out the sheriff on how she would find the black hood, no matter what it takes. The funeral ended and I was walking away with Sweet Pea when I saw sheriff Keller go up to Mrs.Clump. I didn't hear what was said but she slapped him clean across the face. Damn.

There was a meeting the next day at school for the serpents. JugHead was announcing how the ghoulies were out and that they were coming back wanting war. I was confused. I whipped out my phone to text Axel and figure out what was going on. He didn't reply right away so I slipped my phone back in my pocket.

We heard yelling and then the bulldogs barged into the meeting room. JugHead told them it was a private meeting but Reggie had his own agenda.

"Which one of you reptiles was screwing Midge Clump?" The anger evident in his eyes and voice. Sweet Pea stood up and square to him but he was way taller than Reggie. "I'm guessing it was you Sweet Pea." This angered Sweet Pea.

"You ass, I didn't even know Midge and I have a girlfriend." He said pulling me next to him. "But I can see why she wouldn't want fleas from you mangy bull dogs." Reggie pushed Sweet Pea and he pushed back causing everyone to start pushing and shoving each other. These days I hate being shirt because being surrounded by built boys mostly over 6 foot when I'm being shoved I stand no chance.

Archie and JugHead were yelling at everyone to stop and it took a minute but they did. Then Reggie fucking Reggie had to open his damn mouth.

"You know your girl has been two timing you right Sweet Pea?" He said smugly. Sweet Pea got angry again and I was also mad and confused.

"Like hell Reggie she would never go for a bull dog!" His fists clenched and unclenched by his sides and Reggie had a smug look on his face while staring at me.

"Well then Riley, who were those guys behind Pops a few months ago, who's car do you get into at 12 every Saturday night a the Sunny Side Trailer Park Sign. Also I don't know why I've seen you in the ring a few times at street fights fighting for the ghoulies. How much money have you made Riley? Also I was watching a rematch once. A good one too, you got your shit beat real bad. But that's besides the point, you kissed a Ghoulie or your coach or whatever he is to you. Wanna explain Riley?" His smug look remained and Sweet Peas anger was still there but there was also hurt in his eyes. All the serpents looked at me with distrust but waiting for me to say something, but I didn't say anything.

"Not gonna explain? Well I have someone else who can vouch for my story." My stomach turned when Jasmine stride into the room looking high and mighty.

"Jasmine? When did you get back in town?" I asked. The serpents were kinda pissed that that's the first thing I said.

"Oh dear sister, dear, dear sister. I never left. I was laying low, being home schooled and just hanging around with Reggie here." She patted his back before continuing. "My, my I didn't know you could fight so well sis. You took down a 6 foot man in a matter of 3 rounds, impressive. Sucks your face got bruised so badly in the processes though." She made a fake pout and Sweet Pea looked at me remembering how bad my face was beat up awhile ago and I just stared at the ground.

"Oh and there's one more thing." Jasmine grinned evilly. "I was at a gas stationed the other day and this rather hot blond guy was gassing up his car. He saw me and came over we started talking. He apologized profusely for what happened Saturday night and said it wouldn't happen again. He also asked if you told your boyfriend yet."

My face paled and I kept looking at the floor all eyes were on me know. Shocked faces were in display all over the room. Bulldogs and serpents alike. Jasmine and Reggie stood together victorious.

"Get out. All the bulldogs just get out." JugHead stated. In a huff Jasmine turned and walked out followed but the football team. Archie mouthed a sorry before exiting as well.

"Riley, What the fuck?" JugHead yelled at her. He put his head in his hands and leaned over a desk. Sweet Pea just stared at me with a far off look in his eye. He then looked away and spoke to JugHead.

"What do we do with her Jug?" He said roughly grabbing my forearm. He held it really tightly and I knew I'd have a bruise but I deserved it. He looked so so hurt.

"I'm taking her home. She's explaining this to my Dad. Then we will bring her to the wyrm once we figure everything out." Sweet Pea nodded roughly pushed my arm away and walked out. Fangs, Tony and the other serpents in tow giving me dirty looks as they walked out.

"Riley, you got yourself in deep." Jug said before pulling me towards his bike.
