"Sweetie, remember the accident that causes you some traumatic events? The car crash? The one that's inside the car are Chaewon's parents."
Minjoo's world seems to crash into tons of pieces, she wishes she misheard everything. Did Chaewon realizes this beforehand? Minjoo doesn't even want to know anymore, the latter seems to run to the toilet.
The silence is a poison both to Minjoo's parents and Chaewon, for in that void of sound the shallowness of their conversation is laid bare. "Sorry, we didn't mean to ruin your friendship. I forgot that you technically haven't meet your daughter." Ms.Kim scratches her nape. Awkward tension lingers around both sides, Chaewon excuses herself politely to Minjoo's parents. "Please talk it out with Minjoo," Mr.Kim begs and Chaewon smiles and nods.
Chaewon begins her search, asking the students around who maybe seen the pastel haired girl. The latter spots Yujin and the other tall bean pole. "Wonyoung! Yujin! Have you seen Minjoo?"
Yujin and Wonyoung shakes their head, proving a negative outcome. Chaewon sighs as she pants softly while wipping some sweat. Both Wonyoung decides to help the poor strawberry girl yet asking what happen. Chaewon questions both of them whether or not they remember the accident results Chaewon losing her parents, both of them nods. The strawberry girl expounds that apparently the girl who was walking in the phone is Minjoo. Both Yujin and Wonyoung jaw drops, what are the chances it is Minjoo from all people around the world. What a small world.
Some girl approaches the three of them saying that she spots Minjoo at the toilet. Chaewon dashes and both Yujin and Wonyoung catches up following the latter yet decides to stay in the front of the bathroom instead.
Chaewon opens the bathroom door too loudly, frightening Minjoo who is alone inside. "Minjoo."
"Chaewon, please stay away. It's my fault, i ruin your life." Minjoo crying while facing the school's sink.
"Minjoo listen to me, i am already over it okay. It does not matter anymore. Nothing will change between us." Chaewon is about backhug Minjoo when the latter screams.
"Don't fucking touch me! Can't you see?! I accidentally killed your parents. I was on my dumb ass phone, not even checking my surroundings when i just casually walk not knowing the pedestrian light was red. I should've just died that day instead of your parents!" Minjoo yells yet tears are flowing over her face as she faces Chaewon.
"For a smart student, you're dumb as fuck." The words that Minjoo hears before being engulf in a hug by Chaewon.
"It's never your fault Minjoo, it's no one's fault. Due to that accident, i met Eunbi who know it's a big pillar of my life. Then i met Chaeyeon and Yena who are sometimes messing with my fucking mind but always there for me whenever i need help. From there, I thought i was spoiled by the God's above because what did i do to deserve those people around me. I was wrong when i thought i was spoiled, the God's spoiled me more. This may sound cringy but probably i was probably born dumb so people can tutor me. That is when suddenly Chaeyeon burst out because of a math problem and decided we need help. That's when you guys came in to my life. Wonyoung, Yujin, Yuri and most importantly, you." Chaewon then let go of the hug and cups Minjoo's face.
"You suddenly appear in my life out of nowhere. You helped me endure maths and somehow pass some the tests i never thought i could." Chaewon gives a sweet smile and continues.
"Not to mention when i accidentally sent to nudes. I was considering to unfriend you and maybe all of you because maybe you guys are going to be disgusted to find out that your friend is a camgirl yet y'all accepted me. Although i didn't expect to have a big impact on you with that picture." The smile turns into a smirk as Minjoo rolls her eyes.
Then Chaewon's eyes transform into a serious glance with makes Minjoo gulps.
"Although my plan before was to ruin other people's life so they can understand my pain, I know it was terribly wrong but i was mad that time. The old me promise that if i found the culprit of the accident, i will make that person suffer. I realized promises are genuinely made to be broke somehow in the future. Remember the last time when you kind of stalked me and Hitomi that night? You were about to get hit by a car if i wasn't quick enough to yank you from the road. Your eyes seems to be lost and you were shaking, that day i assumed you probably had trauma. I was stunned when suddenly everything clicked, you could probably be the culprit. I shook my heads, what are the chances am i right?"
It was a couple of minutes when Chaewon looks down yet still cupping Minjoo's cheeks, the latter is puzzled on why the girl han not continue to say anything. Chaewon then looks up at Minjoo, tears burst forth like water from a dam as it's spilling down to her face. Chaewon feels the muscles of her chin tremble like a small child as Minjoo looks at the girl, trying to soothe her. There is static in Chaewon's head once more, the side effect of this constant fear, constant stress she had to bear and live with. She collapses in my arms, her legs seems wobbly so i ask her to sit on the bathroom floor instead. Minjoo glad that the bathroom is squaky clean.
Minjoo tugs a strand of hair behind Chaewon's ear and smiles.
"Show me your silvery tears, the ones on the skin of your heart. Show me your rainbow tears, the ones that come when you see the sunshine through the storm. Show me the tears that are cries beneath what the rest of the world can see, what the eyes miss yet love renders visible. The bravest thing you will ever do, Chaewon, is to show me your tears, for what is tearing you apart cannot be a part of you but something to be healed in the gentle ways of our kind." Minjoo then pats the sobbing girl.
"Minjoo, i am sorry. I was selfish and left you hanging because of my own desires." Chaewon draw patterns on the floor with her fingers. Now it's Minjoo's turn to cups the latter's face.
"No, I'm sorry Chaewon. I am sorry for everything. I should've known you have reasons to act such ways before. I was just too blind to notice."
The next thing Minjoo knows, Chaewon slams her lips to hers and nearly knocks all wind from her lungs. Chaewon kisses her and the world fall away. It's slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. Her hand rest below her ear, also her thumb caressing Minjoo's cheek as their breaths mingles. Chaewon runs her fingers down Minjoo's spine, pulling her closer until there was no space left between them and she could feel the beating of her heart against her chest.
Meanwhile Wonyoung and Yujin are both restless since they can't hear the muffled voices of them screaming and decides to go inside. Neither for them think that's a bad idea before seeing Chaewon savouring Minjoo's lips.
"Holy shit, of course." Wonyoung rolls her eyes as both Minjoo and Chaewon quickly end their doings and abruptly stands up.
