It's not a lie when Chaewon says Minjoo has been bugging her mind since last night. She's curious to see what the latter has to say to her. The world seems to hate Chaewon when the latter didn't have time to have breakfast since she forgot that they have homework so she spent the whole time copying Chaeyeon's.
"You should thank me, Kim." Chaeyeon smirks as she pull Chaewon in a side hug whereas the latter just rolls her eyes. Yena just laughs, she gave up. She wasn't just going to give up breakfast to finish some stupid homework, as a result Yena has detention after school.
The three of them are busy chattering themselves as Wonyoung, Yujin and Yuri join them. It's lunch time, Yujin decides to have a race against Wonyoung to the canteen as the rest shakes their head. "Speaking of which, where's Eunbi and Minjoo?" Yuri furrows her eyebrows as she plays with Yena's cheek.
It hits Chaewon, that's right. Where is Minjoo and Eunbi? They seem close recently, closer then her liking. Chaeyeon just shrugs as she walks to their usual table, followed by Yena and Yuri. Having a sudden pain in the stomach due to missing breakfast, Chaewon excuse herself from the squad to go to the toilet.
The journey is tedious, Chaewon's eyesight is getting blurry as if she's about to faint any second. The latter is about to open the door to the restroom but sees it is open. She tries to hide herself and tries to find out who the girls are. Three girls seems to be in a heated conversation, Chaewon knows that it's bad to be nosy but whatever.
Chaewon squints her eyes, Eunbi, Minjoo and Ms Kang? What the fuck?
Back at the toilet, it's chaotic. Minjoo just told Eunbi about what the parents do to Ms Kang and Eunbi is furious about it. Minjoo take no offense because even herself is ashamed for having them as parents.
"Wait so you and Chaewon know each other? How come Chaewon never told me." Eunbi huffs as she pouts earning laughter from Minjoo. "Well i mean, i could've ask you to fake my report cardㅡ" Eunbi continues as she got slapped by Minjoo.
Hyewon laughs, it's been awhile since she feels happiness. Every since Sakura, she felt empty. Sakura is the love of her life. If mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, Sakura is Hyewon's powerhouse.
"No jokes aside, how we tell Chaewon?" Eunbi solemnly mutters as the atmosphere starts to change. Chaewon who has been eavesdropping for a while, become more interested.
"I vote not to. Well, we should but just not right now. Finals are coming and we can't just throw it to her like it's nothing." Hyewon speaks up.
"I agree, maybe we should tell her but just not today Minjoo?" Eunbi says as she glances at the girl who has her head down facing the bathroom floor with her fist clench.
"I just can't do this no more! Maybe it's because you guys been through a lot with Chaewon in her rough days or known Chaewon longer than me, but i can't just put a pokerface and lie to her. It's about her parents for fucks sake!" Minjoo snaps as unknowingly tearing up due to her emotional side attacking her.
Parents? The word that triggers Chaewon. What are they talking about? What do they mean?
"Chaewon's parents are still alive! Like it or not i will somehow tell Chaewon today and try to find her parent's address!" Minjoo glares at Hyewon and Eunbi who seems to be mad at the girl's decision but nothing can change her mind.
"MY PARENTS ARE WHAT?!" Chaewon enters the restroom as she had enough of eavesdropping their conversation and decides to take action. Chaewon grabs Minjoo's collar, acting strong. As she meets Minjoo in the eyes, Chaewon feels weak. She loosen her grip and buries her face on Minjoo neck.
Hyewon and Eunbi are flabbergasted due to Chaewon's entrance. They are speechless and frozen, both of them decides to give some space to Minjoo and Chaewon as they wait near the restroom door outside.
Minjoo hugs Chaewon who hasn't mutter any word. She pats the latter's head, trying to calm her down. Chaewon wasn't supposed to discover it like this, Minjoo planned to deliver the information in a more proper way. Minjoo closes her eyes, Chaewon doesn't deserve this. The pain, it's all Minjoo's parents doings and herself. Chaewon doesn't deserve a girl like Minjoo. Back then, she promised Chaewon that she shouldn't feel sorry regarding the previous car accident but this is much of a bigger problem.
"My parents..are alive, Minjoo?" Chaewon looks up at Minjoo as their eyes meet. Minjoo nods, she carefully tells Chaewon about the whole story on how she knows.
"I mad that you didn't told me first." Chaewon mutters.
"Sorry, I should have gain courage and share it with you but i was afraid. I am afraid that you'll hate me. It's frightening to imagine my life without you. I am afraid that you'll leave me or avoid me. I am genuinely scared." Minjoo tears up as she engulfs the girl is a bear hug. It should be Chaewon whose supposed to be crying due to this information not the other way around.
".. Minjoo?" " Yes Chaewon?" " I feelㅡ"
Chaewon isn't able to complete her setense as she faints in Minjoo's hands. The latter gasp in panic, holding the girl as she runs out of the restroom. Minjoo spots Eunbi and Hyewon beside the door as she ask them to help bring Chaewon to the clinic.
"What happened?" Hyewon glances at Minjoo asking for answers. Minjoo shrugs, she really don't know.
"Chaewon missed breakfast and now she misses lunch i guess?" Eunbi looks at her watch. Hyewon hates to break the mood but Hyewon must go to the class she's teaching at they are having a math quiz. Eunbi nods as she told both Minjoo and Hyewon that she can bring Chaewon to the clinic herself. Minjoo wants to bring Chaewon to the clinic but knowing that Hyewon is the math teacher, she can't just skip it.
Minjoo is restless, she's worried about Chaewon. The girl hasn't been eating? Minjoo promise herself she will bring Chaewon to the cafe tonight! Right now, the only thing that she's worried about is finishing this math quiz. Minjoo probably can ace this quiz if Chaewon isn't running around her head. "Damn it Kim Chaewon!"
The whole class diverts their attention from the quiz paper to Minjoo who seems flustered that she says it louder than she expected. The whole class begins to tease the girl especially Yujin, Yuri and Wonyoung who is laughing out loud. Ms Kang coughs, telling the students to focus on her questions paper. "I know you are worried about Chaewon, at least finish the quiz first Kim Minjoo." Hyewon gives a smug look as Minjoo buries herself in the palm due to embarrassment. Now Minjoo has to finish this quiz with shame.
