Where Were You?

"Doctor Kim we have our first operation ready " one doctor said rushing by my side when I step inside the emergency entrance.

"Tell me about it" I said while putting my coat on and listening to the important information that I need to know before doing the operation. I've been a doctor here in SSKMC (Seoul South Korea Medical Center) for the past 3 years. I've been one of the greatest doctor in Korea a lot of hospital wanted to get me but I chose to work here since this one is the most famous and biggest hospital in Korea.

I walk towards the room to change into a surgical gown, I put my hair up and put a  surgical cap, then a shoe cover and a mask on as i walk towards the sink to start washing my hands and scrubbing it. Once I'm done I went inside the operating room and all of them are already here, one thing they know about me is that they need to be here once i step foot inside. The anesthesiologist is already here same goes for the scrub tech, circulating tech and the nurses.

"Let's start" I said once someone's done putting my gloves on. I walk towards the patient and asked for the scalpel. This seems to be a long day for me already. A soft music's playing on the background. At first I really dont want music when im operating but i don't want to appear like a cold hearted doctor infront of the other employees so i let them play soft songs during the operation while they keep talking about the new movie that was released yesterday. If you're thinking that an operation room needs to be serious all the time then you're wrong. There are patients that are in their worst condition and those are the patients that needs our focus more which means the operation room is dead silent. But for normal operations like everyday we're usually laid back.. more like they're usually laid back by talking to one another. They're even throwing jokes at times and i just smile a bit since I'm not really as cheerful as all of them. Some employees are actually scared of me but it's good to have the authority when it comes to the other employees tho.. sometimes they treat me like I'm a principal in a school while all of them are students.. they dont usually invite me at lunch and stuff cause they're scared but there are high profile doctors around who let me join them.

"Good work Doctor Kim" one of the nurse said when we walk out of the operating room "try having a conversation with us sometimes as well it'll be fun " she said and i just nod as she walks off. I walk towards the hallways down to the elevator. Im fucking tired already.

"Code blue! Code blue!" I heard when i just entered the elevator

"Fuck" i cursed under my breath as i went out of the elevator and started running towards the emergency room. I slowed down my pace when i saw a nurse I'm working with earlier

"The patient's blood pressure dropped down" she said informing me

"Run some test quickly" i said calmly and walk towards the operating room to do the same like earlier. When they found out the problem we immediately transfered the patient to the operating room so we can do a surgery as quick as possible.

After 3 hours of  the surgery i went out of the room and walk towards the hallways and go straight to the vending machine to grab myself a drink. I just wanted to sleep right now

"Doctor Kim" i didn't even bother looking at who's calling me as i rolled my eyes while drinking my beverage. I took a sip and put it down

"Doctor Bae" i look around seeing my bestfriend Irene on her coat and shirt  both of her hands on her pocket as she laughs

"Tough day already?" She said chuckling once again. I just nodded back at her

"I see you just arrived huh?" I said considering her outfit

"I dont have much patients these days" she said, Irene is a family physician meaning she takes care of check ups from the youngest to the oldest family member she gives flu shot to those who needs them so she basically stay at her office for the whole day. I am a general surgeon meaning i am allowed to operate anything and anyone. I was about to drink again when a nurse run towards me saying that we have another emergency patient

"You're booked huh?" Irene said jokingly as i hand my drink to her

"3rd patient for the day"i said making her laugh even more as she wave her hand towards me as i started running with the nurse "is there no available surgeon around?" I asked pissed off

"Most of them will arrive in an hour Doctor Kim" he said.. we entered the operation room for the third time and starts doing our work again once I'm all done we walk out and i told the nurse to call out all of the surgeons that arrived and for those who arent here yet I'm giving them all a 30 minute call time and when they aren't here yet I'll make sure to list down their names and send it to the director. I can say that i have the upper hand when it comes to the surgeons here since the director likes me as the surgeon here on his hospital and he's always in favor of me so no one can mess up with me.

I started scolding all of the surgeons who came late and they insist on taking care of everything for the next couple of hours so i can rest atleast. I go straight to my office not even bothering to go to Irene since im already tired. I took my coat off and let it lay on my chair. I walk towards my room but it's locked..fuck, i forgot my keys.

I walk out of my office to go to Irene's but she told me she'll rest after a couple of minutes and she told me there's a free room just down the hallways so i went out and go straight to that room.

I didnt bother switching the lights on as i lay down but once i did i heard someone groan from under the sheets  making me stood up immediately and grabbed a fire extinguisher since it's the first thing i can grab.

When the sheets are removed from their head i saw a blonde girl getting up from the bed and once i saw her face i dropped the extinguisher and my eyes widened as she keeps calling my name but i cant hear a thing.

I dont know for how long i stared at her in shock before I immediately walked out of the room without even knowing where my feet's taking me
