Wednesday January 21st

Mason stood at the top of the steps leading down to her seat and grimaced. This class was completely pointless. Walking down the steps quickly Mason watched as Dr. Collins fiddled with the controls of the computer trying figure out how to set up her slides. Chances were that Alex, a gangly looking kid in the front row from her math class, would end up getting stuck helping Dr. Collins figure out what was wrong.

The row was almost completely full when she reached her seat, and for a class so pointless it was remarkably full of people. Oddly enough it was probably her largest course of the semester.

She slid the strap of her bag over her shoulders and took a seat. With her feet propped on the top of her book bag Mason shifted in the seat, trying to get in a more comfortable position for the next hour.

That was when a folded piece of white paper caught her attention sticking out from underneath the corner of her backpack.

It was almost as if it had fallen from her chair.

Shifting in her seat Mason reached for it and opened the note without much thought.

I noticed you like Paradise Fears.

                                It's actually really good.

Mason looked up, trying to figure out where this might have come from. But in a class of 260 students, at least half of them male the chances of her figuring it out were slim to none.

Instead she pulled out her phone and reached into the bottom of her backpack. Unraveling the headphones Mason tried to discreetly put them in. Five rows from the front was far enough that she could get away with reading or playing on her phone, but headphones were a pretty obvious thing and only if she was lucky Dr. Collins wouldn't notice.
