It's now or never. I took in a lung full of air and released it.

Now or never. I repeated in my head as I got down from the car.

The steel body of my gun, pressed against my thigh, clutched by my tight holster.

The invitation, that my chief had printed out carefully and made necessary alterations so that evidence of it being fake would be less, clutched around my fingers as I walked through the blue velvety carpet that covered several stairs leading up to the hugs palace like mansion.

The small Bluetooth device pinned to the strap of my sparkling dress made it appear as a built-in ornament.

I took yet another breath as a bulky guard with a rifle stood before me. His hand extended for my invitation.

I hope he doesn't ask about the source of my invitation.

And certainly about my connection to the family.

Please don't let him look through it carefully. I prayed. Loads of other cars were being stopped and people dressed in finest silk and sequins, expensive suit climbed down from equally expensive vehicle.

I prayed and hoped the connection still worked and delivered every single word to the SUV where my chief and other backups were prepared.

I just want to gather information. I mean this was highly informal step for me to sneak into a mafia family party.

Not to mention highly stupid idea. But that seemed to come down to me right about now.

The guard handed me back my invitation card as motioned me with his hand to go inside.

I nodded and entered through the great double doors.

It was grand. But that would be an understatement.

It was royal. As if not less.

The whole ball room as decorated with shades and ornates of ivory and golden. The middle portion of the massive room was adorned by a huge ice sculpture resembling a De'Marco family crest and above the center piece hung by a chain decorated with what seemed like thousands of diamond was a marvelous chandler.

The marble floor and ceiling added the royality of the ballroom. Two magnificent staircase came down from the above floor, three doors stood side by side, the doorways decorated golden and ivory curtains, put into magnificent pleated, giving the family privacy from prying eyes.

I took a deep breath as I walked with confidence that was going downhill with each passing moment. People were like walking bank, dressed in their finest but anything.

I was feeling sort of low, wearing my already worn so many times sequinned gown.

I stood in front of the bar that had been placed in a half circular shape, with male bartenders in expensive cloths serving the wanted drinks to the guest.
