Chapter 4 – Just Play Along, Please!

Lucy was so happy to have finished the first draft of her book; she and Natsu were so relieved when the last page was drafted a lot earlier than anticipated. Lucy quietly hummed in her revolving office chair and waited for new ideas to pop out of her head and hopefully land on her page, no luck, unfortunately. She glanced at her pink haired mess of an illustrator, whom was enjoying the contraption on her desk wondering how he could such enlightenment out of it was astounding to her.

"Hey Natsu, we finished early, that calls for a celebration maybe. What do you think?" Lucy watched him smile from ear to ear, already knowing what his answer would be.

"Sure, definitely. What are we doing?" Natsu was so nervous, he was thinking if he knew what the occasion would be like, and maybe he wouldn't end up looking like a complete idiot.

"You like hot dogs, beer and screaming people; I got the perfect place to go." Lucy smiled.

"If that's code for sex, I think maybe we should leave now 'cause I think you would make too much noise in the office and the privacy of a room is a lot better." Natsu felt better knowing he had made Lucy blush.

"Ha Ha, very funny Natsu; I'm talking about the game between the Sabertooth and Quatro Cerberus. Come on, it's supposed to be a hype game, please. I've got two tickets that I've been dying to use." Natsu could think of a better way to hear her beg but that would come, all in due time.

"Sure, why not maybe I'll get to know what makes Lucy Heartfilia tick." Lucy could sense the want and desire behind the statement but she didn't know if it genuine or purely sexual and there was only one way to find out. "So, I'll see you tonight. I'll pick at your house around 7."

"It can't be 7, the game starts at 7; pick me up at 6:30. Later." Lucy was about to walk out when Natsu called her out, "hey, where are you going?"

Lucy looked at him with a smile, "we finished 3 hours early and we knock off from work till 5:30, so I'm going home, gives me time to get ready for the game." Natsu waved her good-bye as she walked out.

"Are we allowed to do that? You know, walk out in the middle of the day?" Natsu watched as the red haired woman paged through Lucy's book, she smile and occasionally laughed. She looked up at Natsu who was fidgeting in her chair in the corner, automatically blushing remembering what had happened between her and Jellal on that very chair, one late night when no one else was there at the office.

"Yes, she can. She's a writer when she's done with something, she can walk out of the office when she feels like. She can work from home if she wanted but she likes it here and we like her here. She greets everyone, she's nice and pretty and considerate and when Levy started working here she was shy as can be; now she's the most outgoing of all of us. I mean, look at Levy's boyfriend and there was this one time where she baked brownies and brought for us, Lucy is a great baker by the way. So why are you getting so worked up over something like this? Are you lonely?"

Natsu could feel the heat rise in his cheeks, he missed her. He thought that he should home and take a nap before the game. "I'm going home, gonna sleep off some tiredness then go to the game that I was invited to. Me and Lucy."

"So she's finally using those tickets I gave her then?" Natsu didn't want to turn around and shrugged off her comment, waving her good-bye as he strolled out.

'Seems like we've got a crush on someone; I knew you would do him some good Lucy.' Erza thought to her herself.

'What to wear, what to wear?' Lucy thought hard on the subject but always knowing that she would wear her Sabertooth jersey shirt, shorts and the new shoes she had bought when she had extra money for a pair of tennis shoe wedges. She took a quick shower and got dressed she walked over to her dresser picking up a pair of stud earrings and brushing her hair into a pony tail, waiting for Natsu, she decided she should look through the notes she had jotted down when she had nothing to do.

Natsu pulled up to her apartment building and park away from traffic. He had been fussy about what to wear, he wouldn't have normally made a big deal about what he was going to wear but today was different. He put on a blue and yellow t-shirt with black jeans and blue and white tennis shoes he had gotten the week he had arrived from Veronica.

He knocked on the door of Lucy's apartment and waited as she unlatched the locks to her home. He gaped at the sight of her in her jersey and shorts, if it were against the law how much leg she was showing; she would've been sentence to life without parole. The jersey covered the jeans leaving only the appearance of not having anything underneath. He looked at her shoes and looked at his, realizing that they were wearing the same kinds. She did the same thing and burst out laughing.

"You got my memo on the shoes didn't you?" he laughed right along with her.

"Yup, I did." He smiled, "you ready to hit the road?" as he grabbed her hand and dragged her out of her apartment.

"Let's go, baby." She unconsciously intertwined her fingers between his and shot down to the elevator waiting. Natsu loved the way she had just said that, maybe she would say it again.

- Later at the game –

Lucy and Natsu had just walked in to the arena when Lucy had spotted a guy she recently had a date with who wouldn't leave her alone, talking to a girl with pink hair, a dress and boots on. She panicked knowing that if he spotted her, he would want to get on her case about not calling him back. Too late, he waved at her moving closer to Natsu as he walked their direction.

"Lucy, I haven't heard from in heard from you in a while. You here to watch the game with him?" He motioned over to Natsu.

"Yeah Loke, this is my boyfriend. We've been going out for about two weeks now." Around the time she had stopped calling him.

"Wow, two weeks and he's already your boy friend; that's good, great you know. Okay so I'll see you another time maybe."

Lucy sighed, "Yeah, well when you know, you know right." She squeezed Natsu's hand and led him to the seats. She was relieved when she sat down knowing that she was out of harms way from the playboy.

"So, what was that about?" Natsu inquired.

"Um, I went on a date with him, didn't go over so well. Turns out before I walked in, he was on another date. The girl he was with walked and asked if I was his sister, the one he was supposed to meet. Got up and walked out." Lucy laughed.

"His lose is my gain, right girlfriend." He could tell she was blushing but he didn't care, he wrapped his arm around her and leaned into her shoulder a bit. Lucy looked over in the direction she met Loke and saw him coming over her way, sitting down in the seats right next to hers and Natsu's.

"Please just go along with being my boyfriend for the night?" Natsu contemplated her offer.

"Sure, on one condition."

"Name it, anything you want." Lucy was almost desperate, agreeing to it.

"Kiss me, right now." She was speechless but a part of her wanted to kiss him while the other part said it was a bad idea. She put her fingers between his and pulled him closer for their lips to lock.

When it ended, they noticed everyone looking at them. They blushed brighter than Erza's Hair.
