Chapter 6 – A Month!!


Lucy walked into her office hoping that she wouldn't see anymore Sabertooth plushies and Quarto Cerberus dog toys. She inched towards her office, knowing she looked strange sneaking to her office but she didn't care. Unfortunately, luck was not on her side today; there the dolls were, in all their splendor glory staring her down. She felt as if she was be suffocated by stuffed animals even they were quite adorable.


"Ha ha, very funny guys; this is so hilarious, I'm laughing my ass in here!" she was seething at the thought of the person who put them in here, "bunch of idiots who don't have anything to do but make my life miserable." Lucy let out a heavy sigh.


"Talking ourselves again, Lucy?" Natsu saw Lucy jump out of her skin as he walked in behind her after her rant.


"I was not talking to myself. I was merely stating an opinion of the things that some people are doing." Lucy was a bit frustrated, the reviews for the books had come out and the list would officially be going out midnight.


"Come on, don't play into their game; make your own and then own it. Give them a mean streak or make them feel like you like it and you can play their little charade better than they can."

Lucy smiled; he was being supportive of her retaliation against her coworkers. "Let's go, Erza said that you don't have to work from the office and maybe brainstorming at home would be the best thing for you. Get you away from this corrupted air."

He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and led her out; they could hear the wolf whistles and the guys cheering 'good luck' as they walked out. Lucy turned around with fire in her eyes, "Anybody jealous yet?"


"OH!!!" everyone shouted burn as she walked with Natsu on her arm and a smile on her face.


"I'm impressed right now and a little turned on." He acknowledged.


"Let's go get something to eat, downtown Magnolia City has the best hotdogs and I want something not good for you right now." Natsu had spent every work day with her and then two weekends at her apartment starting the new one she had in mind. Natsu could tell she loved junk food; she had a pet dog named Plue. 'I must really love this girl to be remembering weird tidbits about her.' He was silent as he led her down to the parking lot to his car. He automatically gave her the keys to his car, he knew he was safe if she was driving, and he wouldn't have done it for anyone else. She took the key without hesitation and sat in the driver's seat, she was already familiar with his car; he had let her drive it all the time and he had let her operate on it one time when she heard a knocking sound coming from the transmission, she had worn shorts just to jog his memory of how smooth her legs were.


She felt like they were dating but not really dating; they hung out and had lunch most of the time but it could hardly ever count as a date to anyone's standards. They were like best friends, closer than imaginable but she loved him more than just a friend and wanted more from their relationship than just friends. She wanted love, so much love that her heart would explode from all the love she was getting. Natsu leaned over and kissed her ear, leaving a trail of kisses along her jaw and neck. Lucy jerked upright as a response to the touch of his lips against her skin.

"Stop that, I'm driving here you know." Lucy glared at Natsu but he only smiled.

"I know and you are the best driver I know, so I trust you with my very expensive car." He was dead serious about his car; it had cost him a little over $200,000 and it was one the additional modifications that he had done on it.

"Then don't spend so much money on cars, besides look at mine, it's a Charger. Now tell me, who doesn't want a car with horse power." She smiled inwardly think about a Chevy Camaro she had once driven that gave her shock waves down her spine just think about the power behind the wheel. It was her dreams car in full cherry red.

"This is probably the best hot dog I have ever eaten in my life." Natsu stuffed his face co much, Lucy laughed until she almost chocked on her strawberry shake.


"Dude, stop stuffing your face; if anyone asks I don't know you and I picked you up out of pity." Natsu looked at her with a serious face making her blush two shades lighter than Erza's hair the getting and giving her a peck on the lips. It wasn't comfortable for him to do it, he did on a daily basis every day that she had gotten used to it by now but today was different, it was like they really were on an official date.


"Can we get the bill?" Lucy asked the waitress politely before she walked away.


"So can we call this our first date or do we still need the formalities 'cause if that's the case you asked me to come here with you." Natsu knew toying with her in public would mean that she wouldn't make a scene.


"Yeah sure, let's call this our first date, a second one would be conditional." Natsu could tell how genuine she sounded but couldn't get his heart to stop pounding in his ears to love how it sounded. Lucy paid the check making Natsu feel as guilty as hell, he ate and she paid even if she did ask him out she wasn't obligated to pick up the check.


"You didn't have to do that you know." Natsu frowned.


"Do what Natsu?" Lucy was confused.


"Pick up the bill." Natsu was now pouting.


"Yeah, I know but it wasn't a big bill, I mean 30 bucks for me and you and the amount you ate they probably gave us a discount. We should them cater our wedding." Lucy winked over at him, he loved the idea but all he had to do was get her to say yes and she wouldn't have to worry about lifting a finger for the rest of her life.

"Come on clock, work faster, work faster." Lucy groaned in anticipation, it was 11:58 PM and she had just called Natsu to come over. She was getting ready to listen to the book listing  to see where hers stood; she was always in the top 10 but wanted to see a better number than a 5 or 6. She heard the door open only to see it was Natsu coming in bearing gifts or ice cream, chocolate syrup and whipped cream.


"Sounds like a celebration of sorts, so I brought the only type of food that goes with celebration." Natsu lifted the bags over his head.


"Yay, yay, yay! We have ice cream, chocolate good choice; chocolate syrup also a good choice and whipped cream excellent choice." Lucy was in a daze how psychic he was when she was craving something sweet.


'NOW MOVING ONTO THE BOOK CATEGORY' as the announcer said on television, Lucy raced to the TV set with the ice cream, syrup and whipped cream grabbing two spoons.

'THE NUMBER ONE BOOK WAS BY FAIRY TAIL INC.'S VERY OWN LUCY HEARTFILIA, SHE HAS BEEN ON OUR LIST EVERY YEAR BUT THIS YEAR WAS DIFFERENT. SHE GOT A NEW ILLUSTRATOR, WHILE HER BOOKS ARE AMAZING FOR YOUNG CHILDREN BUT THE NEW ILLUSTRATOR SEEMED TO GRASP HER CONCEPT COMPLETELY, YOU KNOW AND HE SEEMS TO BE BETTER AT ILLUSTRATING. HE USES FUN VIBRANT COLORS AND CRAZY DOODLES THAT JUST SEEM TO JUMP OFF THE PAGE, HE MAKES YOU WANT TO READ AND IT SEEMS TO BE THAT LUCY HAS FOUND HER SELF A KEEPER LIKE NO OTHER. LET'S SEE HER MAKE THE BEST OUT OF THIS ONE AND NOT LET HIM GET AWAY......'



Lucy blanked out at what else the announcer had to say. She was too excited about the news; she jumped off the couch and hugged Natsu as he walked out of the kitchen with bowl. Not wanting them to drop quickly set them down before giving Lucy a full embrace.

"We're number one, we're number one." Lucy was smiling so hard her jaw began to hurt. She pulled Natsu in for a kiss; Natsu taking full control of the situation squeezing her tighter. His hands hovered carefully over her back moving their way down to her bottom. She broke off the kiss, panting as if she were coming up for air from a long a swim. Natsu left small kisses on the side of her mouth.

"Natsu, we're on TV; we should go and check it out." Lucy wriggled in his arms that were wrapped around her.


"But I don't wanna stop, Lucy, you taste so good." Natsu kissed her neck.


"I think we should, you know, 'cause we're gonna not gonna see the rest of the show." Lucy didn't care for the rest of the show. Natsu slightly pushed Lucy against the back of her couch; breathing down her neck, he could feel Lucy's erected nipples through his shirt against his chest.


"Then tell me no, say no over and over and over again and again. Tell me no and I'll gladly stop what I'm doing to your body right not." Lucy could feel his hand reaching under her already skimpy night shirt. Natsu admired the fact that all Lucy ate was sweets but she had abs nonetheless and he loved the feeling under his hand.


"Go ahead, say no; tell me that you don't enjoy this and I'll stop all you have to do is say no." Natsu was anxious trying to keep a straight face but he was nervous wreck on the inside.


"Natsu----- Natsu if I said---- if I said no, to all of this, I would be lying to myself." Lucy could feel the smile on his face against her neck. She gave in to that perfect smile.
