Chapter 5 – The Highlights

Lucy just kissed Natsu and everyone was watching them get their smooch on.


Lucy and Natsu looked around them to notice that everyone was watching them. They blushed redder than Erza's hair; looking away from each other instinctively, they both focused on the game at hand. They came to celebrate a job well done, it was the only reason that they had come to the game, right? Lucy focused on the game while Natsu looked over at her every other second admiring how she watched the game and cheered on her favorite team.


"Can you be more perfect or do you keep getting better all the time? Because I' beginning to think that you're an onion." Natsu knew that it wasn't a very good comparison to the blonde beauty but it was all he could come up with at the moment.


"An onion? How so, Mr. Dragneel?" Lucy raised an eyebrow, wondering how the comparison fit her.


"Well, you gotta peel back the layers to see the middle of it. That there's more and more to it than just the outside and sometimes those layers make you cry but you get good food at the end." Natsu was sure that he summed it up as best as he could.


"Really? Aw, that may be the sweetest thing that you've told since you started working with me, thank you." Lucy gave him a kiss on the cheek, not because she was role-playing his girlfriend but because she was genuinely moved by his comparison even if it was food related but maybe she had just found the way to his heart was through his stomach. He blushed the moment her lips pressed against his cheek; she had warm, soft lips he couldn't get enough of and was determined to keep getting closer to and make his and his only.


"You didn't answer my question, do you keep getting more and more perfect?" He wouldn't be surprised if she did or didn't, she was already perfect.


"I know how to shoot guns and rifles. Is that good enough?" Lucy was blunt about that specific talent; she was a bit sniper-like but didn't try to deny it.


"I love you, marry me please? Please, marry me so I don't live alone." Natsu could feel the urge to pick her up and take her back to Veronica and show her bit of the other side of fun, his type of fun. He could feel the urge to go and buy a wedding ring for some apparent reason but he couldn't explain why he felt this way.


"Sure, buy the ring, get down on one knee and tell me how much you want me." Natsu could tell she was joking but he didn't care, he would tell her how much he wanted her and couldn't do without her. he seemed only to see her, no other woman caught his attention the way she did.


"Is that a promise?" Natsu winked.


"Definitely." Lucy blushed, he was getting to her but she didn't care, he seems to have fallen for him. She would say yes in a heartbeat if he ever pulled out a ring.


- The halftime buzzer rang –


Announcer: It's time to show off the cutest couple for the night...


Natsu thought it was cute to show off a couple however Lucy had a bad feeling about what was going to happen; the entire game was being broadcasted live on television for everyone to see.


A drum roll sounded the announcement of the couple...


Without fail, Lucy's bad feeling was confirmed. On the main, four screened monitor was a video clip recording Lucy and Natsu kissing earlier at Natsu's request. Both looking at each other, trying to hide their embarrassment as much as possible could hear the wolf whistles and the cheering of both teams on the court cheering Natsu on for getting a kiss before the game even started.


All Lucy and Natsu could was wave as everyone watched and asked for another one, longer if possible. Lucy looked at Natsu and thought quietly to herself she had already fallen over the edge so she might as well enjoy the fall before she hit the bottom. She grabbed his cheeks bringing him closer to her and this time put her all into her kiss; she smashed her lips onto his moving to the rhythm of his breathing. Natsu tried to keep a straight face while being filmed but couldn't help but lose control, he could feel her tongue begging to explore his mouth, gently sliding her tongue over his lips; he couldn't her the opportunity and let her tongue have its way with his like a useless unending battle between the two. It had to be broken off before a war started.


They looked around them, watching as everyone shouted and screamed at them. The both decided that they couldn't be more embarrassed and didn't care, they would both have hell to pay tomorrow at work they might as well enjoy the rest of the night before going home.



As Natsu pulled up to her apartment, he got out of his car to walk Lucy to her door. He walked around to open her door for her like any gentleman would do. Lucy got out of the car, impressed by his chivalry. Her head admitting defeat against her heart, Lucy took hold of Natsu's hand and intertwined her fingers with his while walking into the building not letting go.


When they had reached their destination, being  Lucy's door, Natsu cleared his throat in hopes of getting her attention.


"So tonight was fun especially when you threw your popcorn at the ref when he called a traveling call." Natsu couldn't imagine anyone doing that.


"Yeah, well it wasn't my fault, he was being an idiot for calling wrongly." Lucy was stubborn but she knew a foul call when she saw one.


"So you gonna give me a goodnight kiss like that one or do I get invited?" Natsu stated bluntly, smiling and playing it off. Lucy often wondered if that was his personality or he was trying to be obnoxious. She couldn't help but give him what he wanted; without anticipation, Natsu felt her lips against his, wet and wanting more again begging for the inside of his mouth. She nibbled on his bottom and invaded the inside of his mouth while trying to conquer an internal war inside herself about letting him in or not. Thankfully, her head won this round knowing that if she had let him, she would probably not be going to work tomorrow.


She broke free from his mouth already regretting her decision of not letting him in but it had be done if she wanted to at least keep her dignity with her a little while longer.


"Kiss me like that again, let me in, please?" Natsu could hear himself beg like a puppy dog and he wasn't ashamed.


"Buy me dinner first." Lucy gave him a peck on the lips before walking into her apartment and locking the door behind her. Natsu imagined that if she didn't lock her door, he would've probably followed her in. He was falling for her and drowning in a sea that was Lucy Heartfilia and he loved it. He felt an unbridled joy drowning by her, knowing that he would spend the rest of life loving her, he would buy dinner and much more but he would have to get over the slump of being her boss first and letting her know who is really was and what is status really is.



'Buy you dinner, I could probably buy you a restaurant and I still wouldn't classify that as enough for you.'


Natsu walked back down to his car as the landlady of her building smiled and wink over at him, as if telling him 'Good Job, Boy'.
