Chapter 11 – An Unexpected Call
“Luce, wake up, wake up,” Natsu voice whispering in her ear, “come one, get up sleepy head; we’ve gotta go and it’s getting late.” Lucy could swear she heard Natsu say we have to go but go where?
“No, sleep calling my name; leave me alone boss.” Natsu stood there in shock remembering what he had said in a groggy sleep.
“Lucy, are you mad with me?” Natsu was anxious even if she didn’t sound mad, he didn’t want to see her that way.
“No but I will be if you don’t let me sleep some more.” Natsu was relieved, immediately picking her up and kissing her full on her lips.
“Alright, alright, where are we going?” She put her head on his shoulder waiting for his response.
“We’re going to my house and then we’re gonna have dinner with my parents, my aunt Porlyusica, my uncle Atlas and aunt Nessa. My parents are dying to meet you, especially my mom; she’ll really like you.” Lucy was nervous, meeting his uncle and aunt were one thing but these people were his parents; they were the foremost in his life, the most important people.
“Okay, so what should I wear? Something causal maybe?” She looked at him for nodding gesture.
“Sure, wear anything that you’d like to where just don’t where anything that isn’t you.” she liked the way that sounded. She headed for the shower and turned on the hot water so she could take a hot shower. Her shower felt so refreshing after a night with Natsu, she felt rejuvenated ready to take on the world in her own way.
“Luce, hurry up or else I’m gonna leave without you.” She heard Natsu shout from the living room. After quickly shaving her legs, she jumped out of the bathroom and ran to her room only to be greeted by Natsu.
“Lucy, this isn’t the time for you to try and seduce me, we have to go.” She was irritated by his sarcastic comment.
“No one told you to come into the room.” She chastised him, dropping the towel and going to hunt for underwear. It didn’t bother her that she was naked, he’d seen her naked already and there would be plenty more chances it. She rummaged through her drawers for a pair of matching panties and bra so she could put on, quickly throwing out a pair of cut-off jeans and strapped blouse with the counterpart cardigan and dressing hurriedly.
“So, appropriate enough?” She glanced over for a sign of approval.
“Yes but babe, you’re gonna need your shoes.” She knew that, grabbing a pair of high top sneakers, hoop earrings and bracelets that adorn her arms.
“Alright, I’m ready to go.” She smiled at him, picked up her bag and walking out behind him.
Natsu opened and started the vehicle remotely, wanting it to cool down before he and Lucy got in. He looked at her, not denying how cute and fun she looked in her sneakers and outfit. He reversed out of the parking lot of her apartment and took off in the direction that led them out of town.
“Wait, we’re heading out of town; where are we going?” Lucy looked out the window, in the direction of the city.
“I told you already, we’re going to my house.” He was sure that he told her where they were going.
“Yeah but when you said house, I thought you meant town house not house house, you know.” She looked at him with hopeful eyes thinking he knew what she meant.
“Nope, no town house but my house is so much nicer that a town house, it’s homey and warm and the perfect place for kids to grow up and it has a swing and big yard for them to run around.” Lucy felt like he was giving her an open house tour rather than describing his home.
“Okay, so where did you grow up? What was it like?” She was really curious about what his life was like growing up, as if she needed an explanation on famous dads, his dad was probably better at communicating than hers.
“You’re gonna see where I grew when we go for dinner and growing was like the best time in my life; I got to run around and play in my treehouse.” He smiled ear to ear thinking about his memories.
“Sounds like you had a lot of fun.” She placed her chin in her palm, admiring the way Natsu told his story.
“It was so much fun but it was kinda lonely at first when my mom left me and dad, he made sure he took really good care of me and then he met my stepmom, Grandine, and Wendy was just baby when she met my dad.” He continued on.
“You sound like you had a new lease on life.” She shifted in her seat to get a better view of him.
“Yeah, I did; I learned that girls were weird amazing creatures that were sometimes scary,” his hand snaked their way over to Lucy’s hand intertwining their fingers. “That woman wore makeup and went out on dates and that they were easily pleased with chocolate or flowers or a little makeup sex every now and then.” He brought Lucy’s hand to his mouth and kissed it, making her skin tingle on contact.
Before she could anything more, they both pulled in a winding road, about five hundred yards away from the road, making it look secluded in nature. Lucy was stunned and speechless, she was sure that this house jumped right out of a magazine. It was beautiful, with a porch and a swing outside the house made it look like on those houses in country movies. Lucy didn’t know that Natsu had these types of taste; it made him look like a family man, like a great husband and father to his children. Lucy knew that she made a right forgiving him but she didn’t know that she would be getting the ideal life partner, if he ever decided that she was worth keeping around.
“Wow Natsu, this place is amazing; it’s absolutely spectacular.” Natsu watched as Lucy ohhed and awed at the house.
“Yeah, I bought it when I moved back from Veronica. It was kind of a fixer-upper but it’s definitely worth the fixing; come on, I’ll show you the inside.” He parked next to the usual car he always used, Lucy noticing he had three others beside the SUV and the Viper. One was a luxury car and it probably burned a lot of gas; the other was a truck, Lucy smiled thinking that it was more her style; then there was the one on the end that was covered with a tarp, she couldn’t put her finger on it but she felt pulled towards it even though she didn’t know what was under it.
“You have a lot of vehicles, more than I thought.” Lucy felt his hand tangle its fingers between hers and pull her through the garage.
“Let’s go, I’ll give you the personal tour of my humble abode.” He smiled her favorite grin.
“Humble doesn’t begin to describe it. Oh wait, I forgot my purse.” About to turn around, Natsu lifted her purse and a small pack with what looked like her clothes.
“You sneak, when did pack that and put in the jeep?” She punched him on the shoulder.
“When you were sleeping but don’t worry, body wash and toothbrush and deodorant is already here for you my lady.” Lucy really felt like a princess, he packed her clothes and looks like he pre-bought all her necessary items for a non-sleep sleepover.
“You look like you packed for a sleepover, pretty boy.” She smirked.
“We’ll be doing a different type of sleepover, baby.” He grabbed her and pulled her closer then planting a kiss on her lips, making her feel dizzy.
“You can’t wait, huh?” Indeed Natsu couldn’t wait for forever when it came to her.
“Nope, let’s go, I have lots of things that I want to show you.” Lucy could bet on that. He pulled her behind him, Lucy taking one last glance at the tarp-covered vehicle before willing being pulled behind him.
“We really couldn’t wait could wait, could we? We completely skipped the entire house didn’t we?” Lucy was panting, practically breathless after “playing” with Natsu. She felt completely tuckered out, wanting to sleep so badly.
“Natsu, do you think that your parents are going to like me?” Lucy sat upright on his bed, swinging her legs over on the side.
“Yes, one hundred percent yes; I wouldn’t doubt how much they’re gonna fall head over heels in love with you.” He crept over to her side, gently kissing where her tattoo was and wrapping his arms around her naked waist.
“I really want to make a good impression them, you know, since I’m screwing their son.” She chuckled, feeling him smile against her skin.
“What time is it?” Lucy said glaring at her phone, seeing the LED light flashing that she had received a missed call.
“Almost time to get going to my parents, why?”
“Nothing, just asking; how about you get in the shower and I go get dressed, okay?” Lucy picked up one of Natsu’s shirts and her phone before walking out. She checked out her phone, showing that she had received a call from her father, Judd Heartfilia.
Lucy wondered what he could’ve wanted; it certainly wasn’t money, he had enough of it. Redialing the number to ask what he wanted expecting to get his answering machine not him.
“Hello, this is Judd.” He sounded formal as always.
“Hello father, how are you?” Lucy knew that her father was one for formal greetings.
“You missed my call, which is very unlike you. Where are you now?” He inquired.
“I am about to go meet my friends parents, he really wants to introduce me to them.” She felt guilty telling her father about Natsu.
“Oh, is it a boy that you’re dating perhaps?” His voice stern.
“Yes, it is a boy I’m dating and he is very nice.” She was ready to stand her ground, her father never really agreed with any boy she hung out with.
“That’s good; I trust you can handle yourself and whatnot. I just called to say congratulations on your book and the review; it was a very nice article about children’s novels.” She was surprised to be getting a compliment from her father.
“Thank you father; that was very kind of you of to call me, is there anything that I can do for you?” Lucy, trying to return the favor.
“No, I’m fine, that’s all I wanted to say, goodbye Lucy.” Before Lucy could say goodbye, her father hung up the receiver and only the end call beep was heard.
“Hey, Luce, who were you talking to?” Lucy turning around, noticing Natsu having a bottle of water in his hand.
“Just my dad, he called to say congrats on my book.” She walked over to him, wrapping her arms around him and nuzzling her head in his neck.
“That’s good; we’ve never really talked about your family and what it was like growing up for you.” Natsu was genuinely interested in Lucy since all they talked about was what was happening now.
“Hey,” Lucy palmed his face bringing it closer to hers, “don’t worry, we’ll talk about that soon enough but now we have to get ready and get going.” She smiled but her heart was heavy remembering that her childhood couldn’t compare to his.
“All right, then go ahead and change and we’ll head out to meet your in-laws.” He laughed; Lucy could always depend on him to brighten her mood.
Natsu could tell that Lucy was a little down after talking to her father; he thought that maybe it wasn’t wise to bring up her childhood but he trusted that Lucy could do it and he would be the shoulder for her to lean on in her time of need but he still didn’t like seeing her unhappy.
“Hope you feel better Lucy.” Natsu looked up in the sky, with shades of yellow, orange and red streaking the sky like a canvass.
