Chapter 9 - Impressions and Confessions


'What to wear, what to wear? That is the question, isn't it Plue?' Lucy sighed remembering that Natsu had unexpectedly asked her out this morning and she had said yes. She couldn't decide whether to wear her black cocktail dress or her red dress, the one that was half way between her knees and ankles. She couldn't decide. He had told her that she should dress up because he was going to take her to a fancy restaurant, but not just any fancy restaurant, it took a month before you could reservations for a table. She was so nervous, thinking that elegance would be best she ultimately decided on the red dress and her red high heels. With her outfit coming together, she had to decide on makeup.


Natsu was nervous about his date with Lucy. He had asked out but didn't know what to do, realizing that his only trump card was the restaurant that his Uncle Atlas managed. He knew that his restaurant was the best, everyone raved about it and it took forever for anyone to get reservations but he liked the perks about being able to throw his last name around.


"Who would've thought that I would use this tux again." Natsu casually spoke in silence to himself. He had one tux that he used four years ago and never used it again, until know. He played with the tie until he felt comfortable with it. With his peace of mind set, he picked up his keys and walked out to pick Lucy up.


Natsu had butterflies in his stomach, wanting fiercely to come out and fly around with joy that he was taking out Lucy. He knocked on her door, not knowing what to expect. Natsu could swear that he heard his jaw drop to the floor, making a thud sound but didn't have to wonder if his friend in his pants already knew what he was thinking, his friend thought of it first.


"Wow, you look absolutely gorgeous; it makes me want to keep you home to myself." Lucy blushed, composing herself before she take him up on it.


"I'm already dressed and I look so good, taking me out and showing me off isn't a bad thing, just so you know." Natsu had to agree even though he thought his idea was better. He loved the way her dress complimented her skin, her eye's looked big and round and the color on her lips make them look juicy and bite-able.


"Alright, let's go; I'm starving and I really want to see the place we're going." Natsu thought that Lucy's smile was so innocent but her body would beg to differ. She intertwined her fingers between his and walked over to the elevator. They were both so nervous; the sex was one thing but they were actually going out somewhere together, as a couple. Stepping out of the elevator and walking out the door, she noticed that he had different vehicle than the usual viper he drove. It was a Jeep Wrangler; Lucy thought it looked like a limited edition kind with leather interior. As if she were psychic, leather bound interior and mahogany dashboard; she didn't dare ask to drive this one.


Natsu looked over to her, admiring the way she admired the SUV; he had learned that she knew about vehicles and saw her in different light. He saw her make a small repair on his car and went nuts his head and pants; tonight, he saw how she appreciated excellent craftsmanship on the vehicle. He discovered something new about her every time he spent more and more time with her. He opened Lucy's door for her before she could open it herself, closed it and walked over to his.


"You ready for the second best night of your life?" Natsu winked at her.

"What's the first, Pinky?" She stuck out her tongue at him, knowing what he meant. He smiled at her with loving eyes; nothing could his night better than Lucy Heartfilia, he was sure that she was his everything already. Natsu had read somewhere that woman feel in love in fifteen days and men fell in love in 8.2 seconds, his fell in 0.2 seconds when he saw Lucy and there was no turning back. She put the radio on, shifting through channels stopping at one with a slow song.


"I love this song." Lucy giggled.

- At last my love has come along, my lonely days are over and life is like a song –
Lucy started singing; Natsu listened, not knowing that Lucy could sing so amazing. He wanted to say something but he was scared that she would stop; he thought she sounded like a Jessie J and Celine Dion crossover, earthy voice but she could hold a note.


"So, you like At Last? That's my parents song, it was the song they danced to as the first couples song." Natsu thought reminiscing about the day his parents got married, he was young but he remembered all his dad did was smiled all night and that he asked his dad if his cheeks didn't hurt; his dad said that happiness never hurts.


"That must have been a really beautiful wedding that your parents had. I don't even remember my dad smiling after my mom died, he just threw himself into his work; he kinda forgot that I was around most of the time." Natsu could tell by her voice that she was hurting, he never liked Lucy hurting or in any pain whatsoever.


"Hey, it's okay besides you got me now." He placed her hand in his and brought it to his lips and kissed her hand lightly before driving into the restaurant parking lot.
