I was driving to work on the main road just outside my neighborhood when I saw a small white fluffy dog running alongside the road. I hesitated a bit but decided to pull over and try to catch him. I went into a grassy area, most likely someone's yard, and clapped my hands to call for the dog. I was worried it might get hit when it ran onto the road, but thankfully it finally came to me excitedly.
I grabbed his leash and pet and praised him for coming and checked for a number on his collar tag. No number, so I then called the ASPCA. The lady I reached seemed pretty upset about this lost dog, angry that its owner wasn't paying attention to it. She said she would be there soon, so I sat down and waited with the dog.
It was a rather short time until she came. She explained how she will take him to their office and try to find the owner, but might not give the dog back. I wasn't sure if I did a service or not, but I was relieved that the dog was ok.
