Being the cousin of a pop star is pretty cool. It really sucks not being able to see them all the time, but you end up getting used to missing them a lot and cherish the moments they're home even more. My cousin was Alessia Cara, I'm sure you've heard of her. She was my cousin and bestfriend. We were more like sisters due to to fact that I had been raised by her family most of my life. My parents had some issues. I eventually was able to get my own apartment, right around the time she became famous actually. She started seeing the world and I started seeing the view of the mall I worked at everyday. Don't get me wrong, I was so happy and proud of her for being able to do what she loves, I just missed my bestfriend. Luckily, in a few days, I was going to see her and stay with her while she finished up the tour she was on. It was going to be a few months, but I had plenty saved up, and I was ready to see her.

I worked at a clothing store in our local mall with my younger sister, Dallas. She and I loved working together.

"When do you leave to go to Kentucky?" She asks me as we folded clothes to put out on the tables.

"I leave Friday. The show there is on Sunday. August 3rd" I answer her.

"Make sure you take a lot of pictures while you're gone. All the places you're going too with her is insane" She says. I didn't quite know everywhere we were going, I was just along for the ride. Literally.

"I will" I say.

"Are you going to get to meet Shawn Mendes? That's who she's with, right?".

"That's who she's with, but I don't know if I'll meet him. I might. She says they're good friends, so there's a chance" I explain.

"If you do, tell him I love him" She says. I roll my eyes. She was the boy crazy one, and I was not. I had never even had a boyfriend.

"Will do" I say. She smiles.

I got off work at 8:00. On my walk home from work, my phone rang. It was a FaceTime call from Alessia. I answered.

"River!" She exclaims.

"What's up!" I say.

"Friday morning. Louisville, Kentucky" She says.

"I'll be there" I say.

"I'm so excited, I can't even explain it" She says. I could tell that she was.

"Me too! It's been too long since I've see you" I say.

"Am I allowed to bring you out on stage with me?" She asks.

"Definitely not. You're the star" I say. She rolled her eyes.

"I'm just a girl doing what she loves. Sometimes when I'm on the stage I think to myself 'what am i doing here?'" She says with a smirk on her face.

"Very clever use of your own song lyrics" I say.

"I know right. Also, you're going to have to hang out with Shawn. I think you'll love him" She says.

"I'll do what ever you want me too, but I'm not going on that stage" I say. She sighs.

"Well, I'll just keep trying" She says.

"You do that".

"Alright, I think I need to go. We've got to travel tonight. I'll see you soon. I love you!" She says blowing a kiss.

"I love you too!" I say before ending the call.

On the way home, I just thought about all the things that would happen while I was with her on tour. I knew we were going to have so much fun together. It would be just like the old days. We would stay up at night blaring music like we used to do when we were teenagers, go get ice cream at 3am, and so much more. Nothing was going to keep me from having the best time with my bestfriend.
