The next morning, I woke up and called Dallas to tell her what we figured out last night. We had a long talk about Alessia, Shawn, and the baby. She was excited for me and wanted me back home for safety reasons.
Today, we were all going to my first doctor's appointment to check everything out. They had a show tonight, so we scheduled it early this morning. We were currently in the waiting room.
"I'm nervous" I say. I was sitting in the middle of Alessia and Shawn.
"Don't be, everything will be great" Alessia says.
"We're both right here, and we're not leaving" He says. I smike at him. He takes my hand in his. The doctor comes out and calls my name. I was shocked when I realized she wasn't Japanese.
"River Cane?" She calls. I stand up along with Shawn and Alessia.
"Hi, I'm Doctor Asmai. Right this way" She says and guides me to a room with an ultrasound in it. I knew about babies well enough to know that I needed to get on the table and raise up my shirt. "My guess is this is baby #1?".
"Uh, yeah. Very unexpected" I say.
"Are you the proud daddy?" She asks looking at Shawn.
"Yes, ma'am" He says. She then looks at Alessia.
"You look too much like our mama to be to be a friend. Your family" She says. She was smart.
"Yeah. I'm her cousin" She says. Dr. Asmai smiles.
"Okay, River. I'm just going to put this gel on your stomach and use this monitor to look at your baby" She says while doing exactly that. The gel was cold, but not like everyone makes it out to be. "Well, look at that". I looked up on the screen to see a little fetus. It was about as big as a raspberry.
"Oh, my god" I say. Once again, I was crying.
"That's...that's our-". Shawn couldn't even finish his sentence before bringing his hands to his face to cover his mouth. He was so happy.
"So tiny" Alessia says. She grabbed my hand and smiled down at me.
"That's your little one" The doctor says. "You're looking to be about 8 weeks. Do you know when you conceived?".
"Uh, early September, I think" I say. I really didn't know.
"Well, then your little one will be here in June. June 29th" She says.
"Thank you so much" I say. Shawn helped me up from the table while Alessia went and got the pictures printed.
We walked out and got into our uber. I couldn't stop staring at the pictures. Suddenly, it hit me.
"Wait, people are going to find out" I say. He smiles.
"Yeah, they are" He says. I wasnt okay with hit, but I had to be.
"I'm scared for that" I say. He takes my hand in his.
"I've got the perfect way to telk the world" He says. I raise an eyebrow.
"What?".
"Just make sure you're st the show tonight" He says. I was confused, but I just went along.

Shawn had told me to make sure I was standing in the wings with Alessia right after he sang 'Where Were You In The Morning?'. We both were. When the song ended, he spoke.
"Okay, everyone. I know you always hear me talk about the girl I sing this for every night, and some of you all may know who she is, but I wanted to introduce her, but I might need some help from her gorgeous cousin first" He says. Alessia looked at me with a smile on her face. "Everyone please welcome back to this stage, the beautiful Alessia Cara!".
Alessia ran out in stage and grabbed a mic. "Hello again!".
"Now, Alessia. I planned this with you earlier, right?".
"You did" She says.
"Well, then what do you say we go through with it?" He asks. She agrees. "Okay, everyone. Let me hear the loudest screams you got because I know there's no way this will happen if you're not screaming your loudest".
I knew what he was doing, and it was going to work. I didn't know where my shyness went, but it was gone.
"Alright, say hello to the girl who I write my love songs about, River!".
I walked out on stage and stood in the middle of both of them. Shawn pulled me into him and held his hand on my waist.
"How you feelin?" He asks.
"Good" I say into his mic.
"Okay, well there's two reasons I wanted you to join me and Alessia out here. One of them being because i wrote a song that I wanted to sing to you, and then I have an announcement" He says. I nod. A crew member brought a stool out for me to sit on. Shawn and Alessia stood center stage while I sat and listened. Music started playing and Shawn sang.
"You hit me up
It's late at night
This is the same old story
Your friends should take your phone away
I always give in when you tell me lies to reassure me

'Cause you're driving me crazy". He sang the first verse, then Alessia joined in.

You know I'm losin' my patience, yeah". I cried hearing the two of then sing this song to me. It meant a lot because I knew this was a song about me, not just something he dedicated to me. He went on with the next verse.

You rest your head upon my chest
Deep down I know that this should be
The last time I come over
You always leave me such a mess
Ooh, you give me a little taste

'Cause you're driving me crazy". I fell more and more in love with him with each word he sang. He and Alessia touched up the chorus again. I smiled so hard. I could tell Alessia was fighting tears, and Shawn was smiling his famous smile. Shawn finished the verse.
"And you gotta stop, if you know
So I can start letting go
'Cause it's driving me crazy
Yeah, you keep driving me crazy".
He and Alessia sang the chorus one last time together, then he grabbed his mic and walked over and grabbed my hand while he sang the ending of the song which was the chorus again.
When the song ended, I leaped into his arms. He squeezed me tight, but not too tight.
"I'm losing my patience, babe" He says into the mic. Alessia handed me hers before I spoke again.
"I love you" I say and hug him again. I didn't realize that Alessia had grabbed another mic.
"You guys guess it long long ago, but it's my honor to actually say it. It's not a mystery anymore. Let's make some noise for the happy couple" She says. The venue explodes with cheers. We were in a room with over 1,000 people, but right now it was just me and Shawn. And that's all I ever wanted out of life. Me and Shawn.
