Chapter Three

We got to the hotel and went to the room. It was a suite on the very top floor.

"So, I hope you don't mind, but I was hoping you would meet Shawn today" She says.

"Oh, yeah. No problem" I say. I really didn't care what we were going to do.

"He wants to meet in about an hour for dinner.

"I'm down for that" I say. We plopped down on the couch.

"Dude, I can't believe you're here. Like, you're going to be in crowd when I perform. You're going to travel the world with me. Who would have ever thought that we would be doing this?" She says.

"I never thought I would be with you, but I always knew you would make it" I say.

"Okay, now you're just lying to me" She says. I wasn't lying, but I knew she wouldn't believe that, so I just smiled.

Before I knew it, time had passed and it was already time for dinner. We were going to a pizza place by the KFC Yum Center, the venue they were performing at Sunday. Bearno's Pizza. 

"Shawn said there was a private booth in the back for us" She says. I nodded and just followed her. I was kind of nervous to meet him. He was a big star. "Don't get all shy, River".

"I'm not" I lie. In the next moment, we were in the back with Shawn.

"Hey!" He says standing up and hugging Alessia. "I'm glad you could come. I know you were busy".

"Not that busy. Plus, I just decided to bring her along" She says pointing at me.

"This is your cousin, right?" He asks looking at me.

"Yeah, this is River" She says. Before I knew it, he scooped me in his muscular​ arms and hugged me.

"You wouldn't believe how much she talks about you. I feel like I know you already" He says. I was kind of shocked by that comment. "It's so nice to finally meet you".

"It's really great to meet you too" I say. He smiles.

"Well, let's eat" He says and pulls out my chair. It was a round table with three seats.

"I can't believe I'm having dinner with a big star" I say.

"Yeah, Alessia is pretty popular" He says. He has such a pretty smile. I know it sounds so cliche to say it, but I've seen his pictures before, and his smile is even better in person.

"No, she's just Alessia. You're Shawn Mendes" I say.

"No, I'm just Shawn" He says. I smile. He was so nice.

"Am I allowed to watch your show for free if I'm on a first name basis with you?" I ask. He giggled.

"You would get to even if we weren't" He says.

"I keep trying to get her up on stage, but she says no" Alessia chimes in. We had all started eating pizza at this point.

"Let me try it. I mean, you can't say no to me, right?" He says with a arrogant smirk. I knew he was kidding though.

"It's surely impossible" Alessia feeds into his sarcasm.

"I can say 'no' to both of you all" I say. I was surprisingly comfortable with Shawn. I had known him 5 minutes, bit it didn't feel like that.

"Whoa! That hurts" He says again.

"I guess you need some stitches" Alessia says with a cackle.

"You and those lyrics jokes" I say rolling my eyes remembering that she had used her own lyric when she was talking to me on the phone the other night.

"Yep! Needle and the thread gotta get River outta my head" He says. Great, he did that too.

"I'm sorry for breaking your heart" I say sarcastically.

"Why do I feel like this won't be the first time" He says. I looked at him and he was already starting at me. His eyes looked like pools of honey with specks of gold.

"I guess we'll see" I say. He smiles. He still hadn't taken his eyes off of me.

"You'll just have to dedicate her favorite song of yours to her on Sunday" Alessia says.

"Yes!" Shawn says. "What's your favorite song of mine?".

"Probably Where Were You In The Morning" I answer.

"Perfect. I'll remember that" He says. I roll my eyes knowing that he won't remember, but the thought of it was sweet.

We sat and talked for hours and hours. I don't think we really wanted our conversations to stop. Talking to Shawn was so much fun. I was excited to get to know him more in the coming months while being with Alessia. I knew the three of us would have a blast together. Let the fun begin.
