Chapter Thirty

It was now July. And guess what...still no baby. I was almost a week over due and still NO BABY! I was getting frustrated. I wanted to see my little girl and hold her. I wanted to be a family with Shawn. I had felt like I'd been waiting forever. I couldn't really be nasty though because today was July 11th, which meant it was Alessia's birthday. We were celebrating at a restaurant in downtown Louisville before the final show tonight.

"Its crazy that we're back where this all started" Alessia says.

"Its crazy that I'm 41 freaking weeks pregnant" I say.

"You're baby's coming soon" She says. "Right now, we're celebrating" She says and holds up a wine glass. I held up my water glass and gave her a stink eye.

"Now, now" Shawn says and kisses my cheek. "Let's play nice".

"Lets take a picture" Dallas says.

"Okay" Shawn says. "Baby, sit in my lap". I didn't even mind that I was huge. I sat in his lap and smiled fie the pictures. When I tried to get up to sit in my chair. He squeeze me back into him.

"No, stay" He says. I smile as he kisses my cheek.

"I love you" I say.

"I love you more" He says. I can feel his arms grip around me tighter like he was startled at something.

"What?" I ask.

"Did I squeeze you too hard?" He asks.

"No?" I say standing up. I turn around to face him and see a huge wet spot on his lap. "Oh, god".

"Your water broke!" Alessia shouts.

"I'll get the car" Dallas shouts. Shawn and I were freaking out at this point.

"Shit, we're having a baby now" He says. I had started contracting and having some pains.

We got to the car and drove the nearest hospital. I immediately was given a room and the doctor came to check me out.

"41 weeks. You're more than ready to go" He says. Shawn squeezes my hand tightly.

"This is it, isn't it?" I ask. Shawn nods and places his forehead against mine.

"We're having a baby" He says. Alessia and Dallas huddle around us.

"How dilated am I?" I ask the doctor who was preparing to give me an exam.

"Well, from the looks of it, you're almost ready to go, and you dilated pretty fast" He says.

"Sonner rather than later?" Alessia asks. He nods.

"Shawn, Alessia? I'd cancel the show tonight if I were you" He says with a smile. They both look at each other with a confused look then at the doctor.

"My daughter had front row tickets. Wait until she finds out I delivered your daughter" He says. We couldn't help but smile.

"Tell her we said Hello" Shawn says.

"Will do, but I think we should take care of something else first" He says.

"What's that?" Shawn asks. The doctor smiles at him and pats him in the back.

"Say a prayer and get ready to hold your daughter" He says. "It's time".

Shawn smiled so big and grabbed my hand. Dallas held one leg open while Alessia held the other, and held my other had. I pushed when the doctor said to and stopped when he said too.

"One more push for me" He says.

"Riv, she's got a head full of hair" Alessia says. I was in tears. I gave one last push before I heard crying.

"She's here" The doctor says sputting her on my chest. Everyone in the room was crying, but Shawn was the hardest.

"Hi! Hi, sweet girl. I love you so much" I say and nuzzle her close to me. I could not have been happier.

My daughter had only been here for an hour but she was still the sweetest, most beautiful thing that I had ever seen in the world. I was in love. Shawn was wrapped, and Alessia and Dallas have cried more today than I have ever seen them cry before.

"I can't believe she was born on my birthday" Alessia says holding her. "My little beauty". Alessia has called her that since the day she found out I was having a girl.

"You guys havent told us her name yet" Dallas says. I look at Shawn and he nods. We had only had one name picked out from the very beginning.

"Well, I picked her first name and Shawn picked her middle name. We both picked names that mean something to us" I say.

"So...that name is?" Alessia asked.

"So 'hello' to Carlynn Rose Mendes" I say. They immediately smiled.

"I picked 'Rose' because the second most important girl in the world to me has that name. She used to be the first, but not anymore" He says. Shawn meant me. My name was 'River Rose'.

"And I picked 'Carlynn'. The 'Car' comes from Alessia. 'Lynn' is for Dallas" I say. Tears formed in their eyes. I knew from the beginning I wanted my daughter to have a meaningful name, and that was the most meaningful thing in the world to me.

"I think we should let you guys have some family time" Alessia says. "We're gonna head to a hotel".

We all said our goodbyes and watched them walk out the door. When they were gone, Shawn crawled into bed with me and Carlynn.

"I love you so much and I can't believe we made this beautiful little girl" He says. I put my head on his chest.

"Me either" I say.

"I cant wait to spend the rest of my life with you" He says. I raise up.

"Speaking of that" I say. He raises an eyebrow, and a smile forms on my face. "When are we going to get married? I'm losing my Patience".
