-some fluff but very slight angst, placed in a human au-

the two new girlfriends made their way to a local tea shop they frequented, letting the golden leaves crunch as they walked on the worn pavement of the sidewalks.

they hadn't been dating for very long, so they were still new to everything, but they were willing to explore their experience together. which was why they were here, for their first official date.

adora looked down onto catra's hand, swaying back and forth lightly as she walked beside her. she took a chance, and she grabbed it gently and felt catra hesitate for a moment. she pulled back; afraid of what she had done wrong.

"i-I'm sorry, adora, I didn't mean to. I'm still getting used to, all of this."

"hey, don't worry about it. it's okay! it's all new to me, too." catra grinned at her but it turned into a soft frown,

"yeah, but I'm still getting used to, I dunno, affection?" catra hesitated, "I know it might seem dumb, but, it's just a bit harder for me."

adora looked at her sweetly and took her hand again, slowing her pace down a bit. "catra, it's okay. you don't have to apologize at all. I don't find it dumb at all! and I know you've been through a lot back there, so of course it's not dumb, you're really strong, catra."

catra widened those heterochromatic eyes of hers briefly.

adora chuckled nervously, "sorry, too sappy?"
"of course, but I like it" catra embraced her into a tight hug, "you're such a dork, adora."

adora eases her nerves immediately, embracing her as well. "yeah, but you are too," she laughed, ruffling her fingers through her brown hair.

they had walked downtown for a few minutes, holding hands and admiring the nature and becoming oblivious to all that was going on in the world. for the most part, it was silent, but a comfortable silent, as if just enjoying each others company was enough for them.

"we're here," adora hummed sweetly. the door's bell to the tea shop had rung its all too familiar tone; they had spent so many times here, yet they never got sick of it. it only made sense for this to be the place for their date.

they took off their coats and scarves, setting them on the chairs as they had entered the warm building.

"I'll order for us, adora," catra said, "and before you say anything," she held up her finger, "don't," she grinned slyly, putting the same finger to her mouth. she then walked up to the counter, so adora followed orders.

adora sighed lovingly, amazed at how lucky she had gotten. even if they haven't been together officially for long, they were childhood best friends. it was almost as if it had started from the very moment she met catra, she never really clicked as much with the other kids at the orphanage; catra was different.

obviously, just by her appearance she was different, but she always admired that instead of disregarding her because of it. she always loved her eyes and how unique she was.

unaware of what was going on around her, catra had returned with both of their drinks in hand and sat them on the table; adora quickly brushed her thoughts and came back to reality.

"what's got you daydreaming?" catra said teasingly, giggling a bit.

"oh! I was just thinking about, I guess us? but back then." adora took a sip of her iced tea, almost surprised. "..did you really remember my favorite drink?" adora laughed, "it's so tedious, it's embarrassing.."

"adora, we've been coming here for years, and let's just say I'm a keen listener. just this weird sorta ability, almost like I'm a cat!" she snickered, "but, yeah! I pretty much memorized all of it by heart."

"catraaa!" adora melted, pretending to wipe a tear from her eye, causing them to both giggle.

"so, what was that about us back then?"

"I know it'll sound cheesy, but, it was always so different with you-a good different. no one else was quite like you, and even though we haven't been doing this for very long, it feels like it's been our entire life since I've met you..." adora looked off to the side shyly, "sorry, am I being too sappy again?" she quietly giggled,

catra snickered, "the most sappiest thing I've ever heard. but keep going, I don't mind it at all."

adora couldn't help but always giggle, no matter what catra did or said, "I just feel like, we've almost been waiting for this. even though it's been tough sometimes.." adora looked to the side, catra nodded sipping her hot drink, recalling the time adora had been adopted without catra and leaving her behind in that hell hole they called an 'orphanage'.

"but hey." adora took catra's hands into her own protectively. "let's look on the bright side, everything turned out okay for us, but of course there's stuff we need to work on, " adora fidgeted, gliding her thumbs across catra's palms, which caused her to blush slightly.

"but im not leaving you again. not now, not ever."

"you promise?"

" i promise."
