Since the whole catastrophe had begun with Samuel, April wanted to take her mind off of the vile man and create a little get-together. The only difference; is there is going to be no food this time.
Roan, Patience, Casey, and Regan were in the park setting up tents and other 'barbecue-like' objects to make the setting a little more presentable. While Regan was placing chairs on the itchy green grass, she kept thinking about that awful man with slick jet black hair and that stupid grin on his face. She knows that this whole 'war' won't end well. But she did her best to keep her mind off of him-- it was difficult sometimes, though.
Of course, Regan is going to have some trouble keeping Sam off of her mind. He isn't a fond person and doesn't give a sh*t about what people think or feel. It's hard to believe that a human being like himself actually exists.
On the other hand, Leonardo and Michelangelo were trying to keep the mood at a high rise; cracking jokes and swapping old memories from their childhood in hopes of thinking about a brighter future.
Instead of having food and drinks tonight for the gathering, they were setting up old-fashioned and popular board games on the surfaces of the table. The second Leo placed down a deck of cards, for some reason, a sudden flashback had taken him to the past where he traveled with no one but his brothers and a couple of others. Mikey gulped, recognizing every image, every smell, and tone in his family's voices when he heard that name ring inside his head.
...
"Shut up! You want the roamers to find us?" A man yelled at the other. They were going at it, trying to get the last word. The men went back and forth until the first one says,
"We should tell Sam..."
"No need to tell the boss! Let's just go." The driver got back into the car as the other stood out in the open.
"Erik!" The man in the car yells.
The man called Erik got back into the car, slamming the door and engine accelerating before it drove off. We were safe.
"Who is Sam?" Mikey asked.
...
The young mutant reptile's thoughts were correct. He has heard of this name before-- the name Sam. Oh, of course, he is aware of many other 'Sams' out there, but this one felt different to him. "Sam!" Michelangelo gasped, blinking back to reality.
Leonardo quit moving chairs and tables and gazes up at his little brother. "What's going on?"
Michelangelo gives his older brother a brief synopsis of his memory, of the day they were on the road and avoided being seen by a couple of men in a small vehicle. "That day we were all on the road and a car came-- we hid in the bushes. They said Sam."
Leo wasn't catching on very well. Perhaps, the apocalypse had fried a little bit of this thinking process. Roan and Regan were a bit concerned for Mikey. For a second, they thought he was going a little crazy or repeated a random moment in a dream he had last night. "What are you talking about, Mikey?" Leo asked him.
"We knew about Sam the whole time. We just didn't care about it." Said Mikey. "Then later, we found that man lying in the road dying."
The leader thought it was an odd coincidence. He remembers that day clearly like it was yesterday and it is crazy to think that they've known about this Sam the whole time. It just wasn't relevant to their lives at the time. It was great foreshadowing... but this plot twist only made things a ton more difficult.
