𝙾𝚌𝚝𝚘𝚋𝚎𝚛 𝟷𝟼𝚝𝚑, 𝟸𝟶𝟷𝟽We stayed at the Red Lion Hotel for another week before leaving and that is what we needed. A great rest from traveling. Soon, Leo decided on getting us off of our asses and moving on. Sadly, the snow was still coming down and it was rough on a lot of humans.
My friend, Vincent was beginning to get to the point where she couldn't travel long distances for a long period of time because her feet are starting to swell. To keep her going, we needed to sit her on one of the horses. Rain was her choice.
Besides Vv's condition, this winter has been extremely brutal to us. A lot of the group fantasized about sitting by a fire, a cozy bed, hot cocoa, and being wrapped in blankets all day and not moving. But we can't do that because we do not have anywhere to keep a fire, no hot chocolate, and blankets that are not thick enough.
It's a good thing Donnie and his brothers found sweaters that kept them warm and of course, Jax and Harlow.
This season is just blistering! I can handle it, but most can't. But we are almost there! Chicago is just a little further up ahead and we can get there. I was beginning to grow a lot more anxious about the train and eager to get there quickly.
When we were approaching the city that once belonged to the human race, we came in contact with train tracks with a few boxcars sitting on the rails. The group is in awe, happy to see that we have found boxcars. Boxcars! All we needed was to find a train.
"Come on, come on..." Regan mumbled, scanning around for a train.
"We just need to keep looking," I said aloud.
"Wait a second," Regan says, running ahead of me. I guess she found something hiding in a bunch of overgrown trees and snow. She brushed away the snow-covered plants and smiled when she found a train facing the north. There were about seven boxcars connected to it and it looked like it was in great condition. "Oh, yeah!" Regan whistled loudly to her leader. "Leo! Over here!"
Leonardo ran from the 300-person group, meeting Regan at the train she had found. Most of the group followed and I was there to make sure no one got left behind. Even the horses trotted up and came to a stop to see the discovery.
Leo and Donnie went to the engine to see if any of the controls could be started up. While they did that, I walked up to Vincent and the white horse she sat on. "Hey, how are you holding up?"
She groaned, tired and cold from the weather. "Hungry."
Duke is right next to Rain, the horse. "We'll get going soon, babe."
While the engine was being checked, Criss gave us the update. She got everyone's attention and says, "Donnie is figuring out the controls." She announced. "It has fuel so I suggest we start getting everyone on the train."
That was music to our ears. We all had a big sigh of relief now that we had a train in our grasp. And just like that, the animal mutants were helping the humans and wounded into the boxcars full of hay bales. From my observations, it looks like this train was supposed to be transferring hay to a different part of the country. Or it made it to its destination and just never made it to the buyers.
One of the mutants that owned some incredible telekinetic abilities moved the horses onto the boxcars, including that 'war horse' which still gave us some very odd vibes the more we had her around. Sometimes, she didn't act like a horse. She would act like a very big dog and listen to conversations like she knew what we were talking about.
When the war horse and the others made it on the train, feeling their hooves meet the wooden floor, they began munching on the hay.
The war horse and every other horse began yanking and tearing pieces of the hay, munching
