Vincent still couldn't believe that she might have found a very good solution for her family's future. Just finding Terrance's old Arrow tag could lead her and her family to somewhere better, somewhere better than Pennsylvania. Now all she needed to do was to find somebody that looked suitable to fit the bill, somebody that might have known Terrance. It was too bad that Roan wasn't here to give her any information.
She kept an eye out for nearly an hour and soon found four mutant wolves following an older one who seemed about fifteen years old. "Hey, hello." Vv stopped the mutant wild dog and his three younger brothers. "I uh... I'm Vincent. I'm sure you don't know me very well."
The wolf looks at his brothers and gestured for them to leave his side for a few minutes. "I'm Ranger. I've seen you around." His paw which is a very rough-haired hand shook Vv's human hand.
"Hello, Ranger. You seem like you might know who the mutant I need information on." Vincent says to the young mutant.
Ranger raised a furry eyebrow ridge. His coat is very smooth but also had some fresh spots of dirt and grass stains on his elbows and his knees. The clothing he wore suited him well; like a little badass wolf wearing old raggy fabrics. "Who are you looking for?"
Vv sighed and edged her way to the topic. She brings out the pendant. "I found this necklace in my backpack."
Ranger's golden eyes widen at the sight. "My father's Arrow tag." His paw takes it from Vv, but not rudely. "Where did you find this?"
Vincent was glad to see the kid wasn't triggered negatively. This is a good start. "It was a long time ago. My friends Mikey and Regan found it. Was your dad a part of this...group?" She pointed at the tag.
"Dad must have purposely left the tag when he traveled. I guess he needed to let it go." Ranger nodded and licked his muzzle with his pink tongue. "He was part of this group. Dad, my brothers, and I lived in this city before and then he got us outta there because he thought we'd have a better shot out here than there." Explained the young wolf mutant. "We're mutant wolves and wanted to be free than living in a big city. Wolves prefer the woods."
Vincent had so many questions, but she needed to start with one question at a time. "So, Spokane-- is it safe?"
"It was more than safe with the Arrows there. My family and I traveled until we found this place. Then one day, Dad and Roan went out. Dad didn't return..." He whimpered, glancing at his three little brothers playing on the bright green grass that is being burnt by the sun.
"I'm really sorry about your father," Vv says to Ranger. "Terrance must have been a great parent to you guys."
Ranger smirked. "Thanks. I appreciate it. It hurt but it was harder on my brothers." He handed the necklace back to Vv.
She looked at the logo and asked Ranger another question. "Say we went to Spokane... What would we expect?"
Ranger crossed his arms and shrugged. "It's been a long time. I'm not sure what we'd see. Last I remember it was safe and full of supplies. Like a wonderland for survivors. There are so many places anyone could live in." He paused. "But it is on the other side of the country. If we went there, it would be almost an entire year of traveling on foot."
"How did Terrance get you guys here?" Vv asked.
"Vincent, when you're a mutant, there is no stopping." The wolf smiled. "Dad kept us moving every day. It took us about four or five months to reach Pennsylvania."
