Depression is a monster without a face
It feeds off life
It wipes the smile off your face and puts a frown in its place you feel displaced
And it don't matter the place or the time
Depression can hit you on a dime
Even in your prime it won't let you shine
You can't help but whine and drink all the time all to feel fine you're just tryna make it rhyme
You're just tryna find out why your skies aren't blue and you feel so damn blue and you don't know what else to do but to lay in bed all day as you waste away and fade into the darkness
Hair falling out from the stress you can't even get dressed you're fucking depressed.
Life feels like a mess no matter how many times you clean it
You still feel like trash and you really do mean it you just wanna leave it
You can't believe it has held onto you this long
It feels wrong
You don't know where you went wrong you are strong
But the monster is draining you fast
You don't know if you can last
You feel like you're in last as your friends and family pass you by
You wanna give up and say bye
You wanna spread your wings and fly
Just say it you wanna die
But you got too much pride so you continue to ride until you can't no more
Steady searching for an open door but you're stuck in the dark the monster keeps you on the floor and feeds on your heart you don't know where to start
Because every time it gets better it rains it gets wetter and you forgot your sweater you're not prepared to weather the storm
You just want to be warm but your clothes are all worn just like your worn body
But you don't ever call on nobody so you keep getting bodied
The devil is calling, he been studying and watching your every move
He knows you better than you, so you sit there and take the abuse
What's the use in fighting?
The monster brought his friends what's the use in trying?
They're eating you alive they're ripping and prying
They don't care that you're crying they don't care that you're dying
And you're outnumbered
You can't get no slumber so you sit alone and wonder who sees you?
When you look in the mirror you don't recognize who's looking back at you it's not you but it's disguised as you and it despises you and it describes you as worthless without a purpose you deserve this
But you know that you don't so you won't give up
You keep on getting up though the taste is sour
You take a shower and water yourself with power you are a delicate flower like the flowers you draw in that fogged up mirror
She wipes it clear and sees that depression is within her
