Be Kind to the Kids

To see through the eyes of a child is to run wild and free

So full of glee without a worry in this world

In a hurry with yet a lifetime to unfurl their world is still so damn small

But their intelligence stands tall

And when they fall it's up to us to help them stand back up

And when they stand up to us between the two of us we must thrust them sky high until they reach the skies of opportunity

Take every opportunity to praise their success

The most successful kids are guided by guidance

Dance like you've got ants in your pants and you can't wiggle them away

Maybe we can giggle them away?

Maybe we can play dress up and mess up the room

It's ok we'll take a broom and help clean up

We'll work together as a team

I know together we can dream up a brighter future

And since the children are our future we must suture our own wounds

What looms ahead is a world full of dread

But so long as we keep their bellies fed and their heads full of wonder the hope is they won't grow to wonder why their eyes hurt from all the hurt they've seen

Because they've seen a lot of hurt in their short years lived

And it doesn't matter what they did as kids they did not ask to be put in this position

Positioned in a place that makes fun of their face and creates a hostile environment to grow in

Because the more they grow the more they know so help them to know that they are worthy

Worthy of love and a sense of belonging

Don't make them feel like they're late to the party because what if moms care broke down on the way to the party?

A broken home makes you feel alone and a disconnected teacher makes you feel like a leech to society

Behave with the utmost propriety or be seen as a delinquent

Maybe if we take the time to listen we can understand why a child acts out

When in doubt compassion always helps

And it must be your passion to help others otherwise you'll die at your own demise and despise your own work

And it must be your life's work to work with those who need a little work in the works to making it work they deserve someone who won't desert them

Left alone in the desert without a drop of water or a father to show them the way

They will listen to everything you say so don't play with your role

This game will take its toll

Don't fold they will get older

And they will get bolder

But they will always need a shoulder to cry on

Mom, dad, uncle, auntie, grandma, grandpa these are the laws of the land

Demand more for your kids

Do for them what was never done for us

And if we're lucky enough they'll grow up to be happy
