The Press Never Give Up

This one-shot takes place after Harry and Draco become Aurors and Hermione becomes the minister of magic. 

The sun had just risen when Draco sat down at the dining room table to read today's issue of the Daily Prophet.  He unfolded it and was shocked at the front cover. It read "Harry Potter Dating his Auror Partner?" The article which consisted of two pages discussed how Harry was allegedly dating his partner at the ministry. Draco kept reading uttering an "interesting" under his breath not realizing that Harry had walked in at that moment. 

"What's interesting?" Harry asked, wandering over to Draco

"Well, it would seem that the prophet seems to think you are dating your Auror partner."

"Really now? Where ever would they get that idea?" Harry laughed.

"A whole two pages on it, you should be honored." Draco teased.

"Yeah right" Harry laughed "what do you want for breakfast?" Harry asked walking into the kitchen

"What ever your having is fine."

The pair arrived at the ministry to find their office door already cracked open. This wasn't odd since Ron had a key but they were surprised to find Hermione sitting on the couch waiting for them. 

"So I assume you have read the prophet?" she asked.

"During breakfast this morning." Draco replied

"Which means you know that the press knows about you two." she added

"Hard to miss the front cover and two pages" Harry said sitting at his desk.

"Right, be on the front steps today and noon sharp, were holding a press conference and all the Auror's  will be there." Hermione got up and walked out the door.

Suddenly Ron appeared, looking red in the face and out of breath.

"Meeting, noon, front steps." He huffed.

"We know, Hermione just left."

Ron just nodded before making his way to the next office to spread the word. To kill time Harry and Draco went over case files, finished paperwork and even cleaned the office a bit. Usually they would be out on a mission by now but due to the approaching conference they were told to not go any where in less it was an emergency. Slowly noon approached and all the Auror's put on their robes and gathered on the front steps. Harry and Draco were advised to not stand next to each other, so they stood on either side of Ron. When the clock struck noon exactly, a loud bang was heard and then a crack as Hermione appeared in front of the Auror's and press. 

Cameras flashed and loud chattering and talking could be heard as the press scrambled to take photo's while the Auror's just stood at attention waiting for the conference to begin. Finally Hermione spoke.

"I would like to thank all of you for coming to this conference on such short notice. This morning information was released that needs to be addressed before it become's out of control. I would like to state that I will not be answering questions that pertain to the private life of any of my Auror's, I will only be answering questions that have to do with the ministry itself." 

Suddenly there was a rush to ask questions and have answers, as people stumbled over each other and tried to get Hermione to notice them.

"Minister! How many rules would it be breaking for two Auror's to be involved romantically?"

"Precisely 12." Hermione answered

"Who is Auror Potter's partner?"

"That is information the public is not privy to, next question." Hermione answered shortly
