This story is going to be the first in a three part series of quidditch one-shots. Each story will be different but because they will be about the same topic, I'm making then a series. Hope you enjoy!
The weather was perfect for practice. There wasn't any wind, the cloud cover was perfect to obscure direct sunlight, and the air was dry. The Gryffindor team was making their way down to the pitch, their brooms slung over their shoulders. Harry was casually talking to the team, since he was now captain it was his job to set up practice and make sure everything went perfectly. As they reached the locker rooms Harry reminded everyone them had new practice uniforms. It was a sweater with their house colors and a pair of brown pants. It wasn't anything special, but it was comfortable.
Once everyone had dressed, and been informed of the plans for practice, they walked through the doors and out onto the green grass, into the stadium. Brooms were mounted and they all began to rise into the air. Practice started at the blow of a whistle from Harry and everyone took position. Half an hour later they were interrupted by a team in green and silver sweaters, led by Draco Malfoy. Harry sighed and signaled for the team to land.
"What is it Malfoy?" Harry sighed.
"You seem to have forgotten that today is our practice." Draco replied.
"Malfoy, we always practice on Saturday afternoons, Slytherin is the evening." Harry stated, knowing he was right.
"That's where you are wrong Potter." Draco said, pulling a letter from his pocket. Giving it to Harry.
"You got Snape to agree to bumping us to the evening?" Harry lifted an eyebrow while reading the letter.
"What's the point?"Draco laughed and placed the end of his broom handle under Harry's chin lifting it so that the shorter boy was forced to look at him. "The point is, we like to practice when its daylight out."
"Whatever, its not worth it." Harry said, trying to act normal even though a blush was spreading across his face and his heart was beating quickly.
There were testing grumbles from the rest of the Gryffindor team as they walked back to the locker room to change.
"Any of you are free to go talk to Snape on your own if you would like." Harry said pulling his sweater off.
The grumbling died down as they realized it wasn't worth it, arguing with Snape was a loosing battle. They all decided it was better to just watch the other team practice, instead of wasting the afternoon. Heading back out to the stands, they sat and watched. Harry watched a little more intently than he probably should have. Focusing his attention on a certain Slytherin who was coaching his team. Paying close attention to how he sat on the broom, how his ar..
"Harry?" Ron's voice cut through
"Yeah?" Was all Harry could say, slowly coming back to his awareness.
"I was asking what you thought of their techniques." Ron looked confused as to why it took so long to get his friends attention.
"They are different since Malfoy became captain. I'm going to have to make adjustments to my strategies." Harry was making it up as he went.
Ron just nodded and went back to watching the other team. Harry shook his head of the thoughts he way having. He knew he was gay, but liking Malfoy? That was a whole different level. Was Draco even interested in guys? When did he become Draco? Harry felt his face grow hot and decided to just focus on the other players, instead of the blonde.
After about two or so hours the Slytherin team was finished, and for that, Harry was grateful. It meant he could blow off some steam during practice as well as not having to force himself to watch the other players. He dragged the Gryffindor's back to the locker room. They got changed and waited for the cue that it was ok to head out. Harry nodded and they filled out onto the pitch.
