Zak POV
I rubbed my neck as I sat down beside her bed once more. Yet she was here in spirit form. Only now could I focus on the cold breeze moving around in a closed hospital room.
The spirit box was still humming and Lucifer sat on the other side of the bed, arms crossed and glaring at me.
"My brother didn't even get to you yet and you're already making mistakes with my sister's safety." He hissed before I shook my head.
"Maybe you're not understanding I had the green light Lucifer. I wasn't at fault."
"But you were. Otherwise she'd be completely fine. I have Amenadiel coming with some divine intervention. Human medicine isn't going to cut it. Otherwise she'll be in a bloody coma till she wakes up!"
"Shut up." Rana's witty British accent came through. I almost smiled yet I couldn't stop staring at her lifeless body.
"Rana why can't you just go back in your body."
"It's too weak.... To house." I cursed under my breaths as I held the spiritbox in my hands. Lucifer's phone buzzed and he growled before going into the hall. Aaron sighed and motioned to the box.
"I'm gonna grab some coffee. Leave you two alone." I nodded as thanks before he walked out the door.
"Do you blame me?"
"No."
"Do you want back in your body or do you want to go home?"
"Body." She was short with her responses only to save energy I assumed.
"Is it scary over there?"
"Yes...a lot of spirits." I felt coldness on my shoulder and blinked back the threat of tears.
"Is your head on my shoulder?"
"Yes."
"I love you."
"Love you too." The cold air stayed there and I tossed the spiritbox on the bed. Lucifer came back in moments later with Amenadiel behind him.
"You told me she was hurt Lucifer. This is beyond injured. I can only heal exterior wounds. Who do you think I am? Father?" He said that before even examining her. Lucifer growled lowly and motioned to Rana's head.
"It's a physical injury brother! Plus all the bumps and bruises count!" I stood and grabbed the spirit box.
"You guys could try using this to talk to her."
Lucifer POV
I scoffed and snatched the device before motioning to the door.
"Can you both please give me a moment with my sister?" Zak and Amenadiel nodded and walked by, closing the door behind him. I glanced to where I could see Rana standing then closed the blinds on the door. "I know that look."
"You know that I can't stay here... Our brother will find a way to kill me if I stay here." I motioned to her body. "He'll use Zak."
"Then get in and I'll make you disappear. New name and everything."
"But I love-"
"You love someone who can destroy you. If you loved him then you would have already been back in your bloody body. You're scared just as I am of Chloe." I wandered over to where her body laid. I turned off the machines one by one. Then roughly yanked the tubbing from her throat. Her spirit disappeared and her eyes opened as she gasped. "Get dressed. Take my car. Go home and pack a bag. Maze will handle Brutus for you. Go to where I fell to earth. I'll be there tonight." She nodded and quickly got up, dressing and taking the duffle bag. She looked up to me and hugged me. My baby sister and dearest angel. Just like that she gone. I felt cold as tears threatened to prick my eyes.
I sat down and opened a flask just waiting for the fall out. Yet I knew my sister and I knew her well. She was a runner from fear and it was when my father sent her to this place alone, she had fear all around her. Zak was what she now feared and loved the most in her life. Aaron walked in and looked to the bed with wide eyes.
"To heaven she flew." I mumbled before taking a swig again.
"She just left? What about Zak?"
"What about me-" Zak walked in and stopped, Amenadiel nearly running into him. I saw my brother's rage, which was rare in itself.
"Where is our sister?!" I didn't even stand, my jaw tensed once more before I took another swig.
"She went to daddy. Uriel would have killed her brother. I told her she had to go. I forced her back in her body and that was it." I looked to Zak. He was looking down, he looked weak. It was odd for a man such as him to look defeated. Aaron grabbed his shoulder yet he pulled away and walked out. He was a broken man now. Love stolen from him in a swift motion. A feeling I knew so well.
I got up and pasted Amenadiel, yet he grabbed my arm.
"Tell me the truth."
"Don't you think if I was lying I would at least tell you? I have to go talk to Maze. She has to watch Brutus." I pulled away and made my way to the exit of the hospital.
It was about a fifteen minute walk to the beach from the hospital. Cigarette on my brims and flask in the other. The beach was empty and the moon full. The same scene was when I came crashing down to this world.
I sat down in the sand and looked up, bitterly chuckling. I knew my father was watching as he always had nothing better to do then observe his creation.
"She can't even be happy because of you. She has to run from the thing she loves the most!" I threw the now empty flash before cursing.
It was then that I felt what my sister felt. Alone. Fear. Anguish. I glanced to my watch and chuckled weakly. Realization hit that my sister was gone. Her hug at the hospital was her goodbye.
