Zak POV

"YOU WANT TO WHAT?!" Rana nearly hissed at me as she chucked the set of paperwork at me. I was glad the others weren't in the office this morning as of yet. "A RITUAL?!" Her heels clicked across the creaky floorboards of my office.

It had been two weeks apart, she was in LA running Lux and I called every night. Aaron said I was falling for her, which was a minor statement. Just this morning I'd laid on her that I wanted to go practice a voodoo ritual in Louisiana before investigating a old slave house. To say the least she wasn't a fan.

"HAVE YOU GONE BLOODY WELL MAD?" She sighed and turned to me, her back to the window. I slowly and sheepishly approached her, coiling her fingers with mine. "Don't even dare." She mumbled and glanced down at my hand holding hers before pulling her into body towards mine.

"Don't even what?" I smirked before pressing a feather light kiss to her lips.

"Don't woo me Mr.Bagans. You'll coax me into joining in on this because I damn well know you're stubborn and won't change your mind." Her icy eyes flickered up to look in my own. "Aren't I right?"

"I already scheduled the trip." She chuckled before kissing me as I continued to hold my smirk. "I knew you'd take it well."

"Voodoo doctors. If they're strong they see me for what I really am Zak. Sometimes I can't protect you against them. It all depends." Rana pulled away and grabbed the paperwork off the floor, a black tight pencil skirt hugging her curved bottom. I looked away and took a deep breath until she cleared her throat. A part of me was scared to sleep with her and get that attached. I'd been what some women call a man whore. Yet with her I hadn't even looked at another woman or done the usual booty call of my exes. Rana wouldn't be something so simple.

"What are you thinking about?" She pulled me from my thoughts.

"Nothing just the case." Rana clicked her teeth.

"What did I say about lying?"

"Us. I was thinking about us." I breathed before leaning against my desk and crossing my arms. She raised her eyes from looking at the case file. Her pink tongue running along those red lips of hers.

"Mmm the truth. If it brings you any comfort. I can't stop." She smirked and looked down once more. "When do we leave?"

"Tomorrow. The RV will be here around noon. Are you riding with Aaron and I ? Or flying?"

"I could use the road trip. I'll have to drive back to LA tonight and come back with clothes. I wasn't expecting the trip." She closed the file and wandered in front of me. My arms coiled around her instinctively, even in her heels she was shorter than me. "So about us?"

"Yeah?"

"What are you thinking?" She mumbled as I stroked her cheek.

"That I want you and that was the longest two weeks of my life." I leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips. My hands roamed her body only for a moment until I heard the front door of the building creek. A groan escape me as I squeezed her hips. Even being human, it was obvious I had an alpha male side and it wanted to show around her. Rana was onto stronger due to Divinity, but she was more than happy to play beta around me.

"Patience." She whispered and pulled away, running her hands down her skirt to remove any wrinkles.

"Hey bro you in here?! I see queen hotties car! You two fucking or can I come in?!" I groaned and opened my office door looking at Aaron chuckling. "Ah just in time right? So the trip tomorrow?" Aaron was always excited in a kid manner, the light hearted one of us to say the least.

"She agreed." I chuckled slightly and glanced back to Rana who had returned to looking at the case files. It was obvious she was interested though she probably knew more about the topic than even in the file or all the files combined.

"Yes well a real Voodoo doctor isn't something to giggle at nor like fun at boys. If she wants to curse you and have you take some spirits home she will." Her manicures blood red nail ran down a sheet. "Sorry voodoo queen also known as Bloody Mary. Dear father." Rana grumbled and pulled out her phone for a moment. "Marie Lavaeu is her real human name. I'll see what I can did up." Aaron smirked to me before pointing to Rana.

"She's good. Does better research than you that's for sure." I rolled my eyes before wandering out of my office. What Lucifer said continued to play in my mind. Keeping Rana safe was my job on these adventures even if I was human. I was caught in my thoughts as Nick, Billy, and Jay wandered in with takeout from the dinner for every one.

"Zak?" I was pulled from my thoughts when cold fingers stroked the back of my neck, my eyes landed on Rana as she flashed a smile. "Go ahead and eat. Relax with the guys. I'm gonna head back to LA now so I can just sleep in Las Vegas tonight." A sigh escaped me as I scooped her up and pressed a kiss to her lips.

"Drive safe I'll see you in a few hours?" She nodded and held my face, kissing me back before I set her down.

"Get a room." Nick whined before Billy chuckled.

"Let's be real boys. You'd love to watch." She smirked and joined in on the laughter before grabbing her purse. I walked her out and watched as she wandered to her car before glancing back to me. "Rest up before I get back. We have some things to do tonight." I smirked as she got in her car with a cheeky smile on her face. It was only a moment later that she drove off.
