I took a shower and headed down stairs just in time for Hillary to spot me and pull me by the shirt collar into a corner of the downstairs hall.
"I know you snuck out with Pete last night and I'm warning you not to do it again. Just because your parents abandoned you here doesn't mean you can do what ever you want." Hillary threatened.
"I can do whatever I want, I'm about to be a legal adult. And I don't understand why your so butt hurt over me hanging out with your brother." I replied causing her not to answer, but glare at me and walk off. What the hell does she know anyway? She's not my mother. I saw Pete racing down the stairs. He grabbed me by the hand unexpectedly and dragged me along behind him out the door as he smirked.
"What are you doing?" I asked with a laugh.
"Taking my girlfriend out to lunch" he replied and opened the passengers side of his CSR door for me.
"I'm not-" I began
"Why won't you let me just pretend then?" He cut me off and smiled as he got in the drivers seat.
"Why are we doing this?" I asked after he started the car.
"I thought I'd make it up to you since I ruined your first date." He said.
"So this is a date?" I lifted an eyebrow at him questioningly.
"Well, yeah. You like those, don't you?" He asked. He didn't really seem like he knew what he was doing either, he seemed nervous.
"Have you ever been on a date?" I asked.
"I have, many times, but I've never actually dated a girl before. Okay, that may not have made since. what I'm trying to say is I normally just go on one date with a girl and its never this nerve wracking for some reason." He said.
"Were not even at lunch yet and your nerves are wracked?" I laughed.
"What can I say? You just have that effect over me."
He took me to some Italian restaurant and our waiter led us to our seats. We were quietly looking over our menus when Pete tried to break the silence.
"I've never been here before, I've always drove past it. I like being able to do this with you." He said as he looked at me from across the table our in our booth.
"Why do you want to date me?" I asked.
"Well I like you, but you know that already." He said.
"You've been with ten girls, why me though. You said two of those girls mattered but you never took them on dates?" I asked.
"I just feel like I should with you, I mean I just like you enough to try to do this. The two girls that did matter were a long time ago and I think I was too young for knowing how to date girls." He said.
"Hey!" We herd a voice from beside us. Our attention focused on three guys, one looking really sad.
"What are you guys doing here?" Pete asked the rest of his band. Patrick looked at me only for a moment with disappointment plastered across his face. My words to Patrick about me not breaking up with him for Pete came back to bite me in the ass, this sure did look bad.
"Were just grabbing some food before going to the arcade to play some cool old school stuff. What are you guys doing here?"
"Just getting A.J. out of the house." Pete said. Patrick didn't look like he believed the lie, they must have over herd some of our conversation. The guys just stood there for a moment.
"Well I guess well let you get back to whatever you were talking about" Andy said and they walked off leaving the lingering awkwardness still in the air. Pete leaned across the table and whispered to me.
"That felt really weird for some reason. I felt like I was caught doing something I wasn't supposed to." He said probably explaining why he lied to them.
"Maybe because I told Patrick I wasn't dumping him for you and this looks bad." I said.
"But you totally did." Pete smirked at me. Our waiter came back by and took our order.
"So are you coming out with me again tonight?" Pete asked as one hand was under the table holding mine and the other was bringing a bite of pasta to his lips.
"Yeah if you want me to, If I get in your way I understand." I said.
"You really help me. The only thing I'm worried about is us getting caught." He said.
"Well you Havant gotten caught yet so why should we." I said.
"I just don't want you to have to go back home or anything like that." He said "your right though."
"Your too smart to get caught." I smiled at him.
"I think your flirting with me, Autumn." He smirked at me. I decided to change the subject to neither confirm or deny that I was.
"I noticed you call me A.J. around the guys but when were alone you call me Autumn." I said.
"Oh, I didn't think you would notice." He laughed. "I like Autumn, its what I've always called you. I don't know, I just feel like I wouldn't like the guys calling you Autumn for some reason."
"Sounds like a jealousy thing" I laughed.
"No its more like your real name is my nickname for you. I mean how would you like it if some girl called me Peter pan?" He asked. I'd probably feel aggravated but I wasn't going to say that.
"It's just a name." I shrugged.
"You wouldn't be upset at all?" He asked.
"Why should I be? Should I be jealous?" I asked.
"Yes." He smiled. "Now you have me thinking you don't like me" he play frowned.
"I am willingly on this date aren't I?" I asked
"I don't know, I kind of kidnapped you and dragged you to my car.
"But I didn't put up a fight." I said.
"Why do you always win these little conversations we have?" He laughed as I felt his thumb rub over my hand gently under the table.
"Because I'm always right." I joked.
