Pete and I started loading my things into the back of his car when I heard a voice behind me.

"Are you sure about this?" I spun around to see Patrick making me smile and give him a big hug.

"I'm sure." I said "and I'm sorry" I added "but I'm going to miss you most of all scarecrow" I said stealing a quote from the Wizard of Oz.

"Wasn't he lacking a brain though, I see myself more of the lion" Patrick joked.

"Well then Pete is the one without a brain" I said

"What?!" Pete said loading something else into the car.

"Sounds accurate, I must be the heartless one then" Hillary laughed as she waltzed up to me and gave me a big hug.

"Well that's all your stuff" Pete announced.

"Bye guy's" I said as I gave a smile to Patrick and Hillary before getting into the car.

"So where have you decided on going?" Pete asked as we pulled out of the neighbor hood.

"Just home I guess." I said.

"Alright." He said reaching into his pocket with one hand still on the steering wheel. "Please take this. I just want you to remember me" he said putting the gold necklace into my hands. "I don't want you to remember the crappy adult me that doesn't have his life together either." He said.

"I liked the crappy adult you." I said

"I'm working on changing a little bit, I quit robbing people. I feel like you really got to me. I kind of just realized I love you, and I always have." He said making my mouth hang open slightly in disbelief. "I listened to you cry every night in your room because of me, I was just too much of a wuss to do anything about it. Believe me when I say it almost killed me." He said. I still sat there stunned.

"Why are you telling be this now that its too late? We had one chance to be together." I said.

"We don't have one chance. Why do you think I'm driving you?" He smirked "do you love me too?" He asked.

"Yes." I said.

"Then let's find a place in downtown Chicago together." He suggested.

"Are You're kidding?" I asked in disbelief of this whole situation.

"If I said no would you think I was crazy?" He asked.

"I would." I said.

"Then no, I'm not kidding." He laughed.

"In that case, I agree. Let's move in together." I shrugged. Now it was his turn to look surprised.

"Good thing I was already driving us to downtown Chicago instead of Michigan anyway." He said with a laugh.

"What if I would of said no." I said.

"You never would of even noticed if I would of turned around." He said.

"This is why I like you, you're full of surprises." I said.

Pete and I spent the rest of the day in downtown Chicago looking at apartments, on the way home I called my parents.

"Hey sweetie" my mom answered "are you coming home today?"

" No, actually Pete and I found a place to live in downtown Chicago today and m working on looking for a job."

"You're still seventeen, you can't do that!" My mom began to freak out.

"A month and a half I'll be eighteen, its fine" I saw Pete look at me with a nervous look as he drove.

"I'll call the police" my mom said sternly.

"Go ahead do it, I'm a state away and becoming independent, there's nothing you can do" I said then hung up the phone.

Hey guys! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
