I waited on the porch for Patrick. When I saw his car pull up I felt myself smile a big smile. When I saw him get out of his car in pajama bottoms and a hoodie I felt this weird excitement and relief wash over me. I couldn't help but run and jump on him.
"I guess you're feeling better." He chuckled as he hugged me back.
"A lot less alone now." I smiled "come on" I said and led him in the house and up to my room.
"Do you want to watch a movie or something?" I asked.
"Sure. Hey, where am I sleeping?" He asked confused.
"Where ever you want, I don't have much floor though the bed takes up a lot of the room"
"I noticed" he said with a slight laugh as he scratched the back if his neck nervously.
"Who said were going to sleep anyway?" I asked as I put in a movie and watched his face go red confusing me for a moment. "Oh, no no. Not that..not what I meant." I said
"Sorry, I... I'm a guy" he shrugged making me laugh.
"Its fine" I laughed. I started the movie and crawled into bed. I turned to see him still just standing there looking awkward. "Well get in here." I said.
"Oh, Right." He said quietly and kicked off his shoes and climbed in beside me in the bed.
During the movie we heard the creaking of a door in the hall.
"What's that's?" Patrick asked about the sound.
"I don't know probably Pete coming home" I shrugged.
"Please tell me he isn't still stealing after what happened." Patrick now whispered.
"I really don't know. I haven't seen him much lately." I said to Patrick who was now comfy under the covers with me with our heads propped up aimed at the TV screen.
"He's my best friend, but I feel like it was kind of crappy how he dumped you right after you bailed him out of jail like that." Patrick said.
"I think so too. It really hurt." I said.
"I just want you to know I'm here for you tonight because you're sad and I want to help, not because I like you. Me liking you isn't a factor of this, I would do this for any of my friends." He said.
"You're awesome Patrick. I think you actually have the best talent of making people feel better that I've ever seen." I said.
"I just try to put my self in other peoples shoes, ya know?" He said.
"I wish I could be as selfless as you, your like a saint."
"St.Patrick?" He looked at me and laughed. "I don't wear green and I'm definitely not Irish" he said.
"Hey do you want some chips or something?" I asked after hearing my stomach rumble.
"Chips would be really cool right now" he said. I got out of the bed and told him I'd be right back.
I went down stairs to the dark kitchen only to be met with a voice.
"Hey" Pete's voice said in the dark.
"Hey" I replied flatly and began going through the pantry to find a bag of chips.
"I heard voices coming from your room are you alone?" He asked as my eyes adjusted to the dark now seeing him sitting at the table. Why the hell should he care? Why the hell should I tell him?
"Yeah, just watching a movie." I said and began to walk out.
"Maybe we could watch it together?" He asked
"No, that's okay." I replied and walked out of the kitchen. I jogged back up the stairs and into my room locking my door behind me.
"Are you alright?" Patrick asked looking at me curiously as I stood there trying to catch my breath from the jog up here.
"Yeah, awkward run in with Pete. He asked me if I had anyone up here and I said no." I said.
"You could of told him the truth" Patrick said.
"I don't owe him the truth" I said and crawled back into bed.
A few minutes later there was a knock at my bedroom door. Patrick and I just looked at each other wondering what yo do.
