Prologue

My heart was pounding fast. Head throbbing, vision blurry...This was bad.. I looked around the tree, trying desperately to find the place where we'd be safe. I glanced back at him. His throat was shallowly cut, thank Notch, but he was bleeding all over the place. Not to meantion the gash on his chest,  his eyeless sockets, and all those cuts and bruises litered all over his frail body.

It was hard to tell if he was even the same person I knew, before this happened.

Before all this happened.

Again, I cursed under my breath. They had taken everyone else, but not me.

And not him.

I had promised them that I would live on for them, for all of them.

But things aren't really working out right now.

I crept back to my friend; the only person I have left in this cruel world. He looked ghostly pale, and if I didn't get there in time, he wouldn't make it, and I would've broken my promise.

I can't let that happen.

Grunting, I hauled him up on my shoulders, as if I was giving him a piggy back ride, and silently walked on, not even daring to make a sound, in case they hear us. Soon enough, I saw a faint glow in the distance. Nervously, I considered the circumstances.

Right now, I was being hunted down. If I was caught once again, I knew for sure that I would be slain, not to meantion getting him killed too.

But there was a place up ahead. If it was really the one, then I would be saved, and he would too.

But if it wasn't, and I was walking right into their hands....I shuddered, not wanting to think of what would happen.

It would basically be game over for me and him.

I thought through my next move. I honestly didn't really have anything else to loose, so i...

I did the most stupidest thing to do at that moment.

I sprinted like I was doing Spleef with still carrying his almost-lifeless corpse and made a run for it.

After a good solid while, as I slowed down to a jog, I could tell that they were gaining on me, judging from the extra noise echoing around the woods.

Almost there, almost here.

But I will not get caught.

I couldn't, after being so close.

Up ahead, I could see a silhouette of a grand castle up ahead.

Just a little farther.

I am almost there.
