Chapter Three: The Flying Tower, Part Three
The tower shook and Midnight woke up. "We're here!" Zephyr called. Midnight sat up and looked around. He was still in the tower."Ack! My back!" Slayer yelled. "Cramp!"
"Huh?" Ledias got up with her hair in her mouth and drool slipping down her chin. "Who's dying? You!? I don't get paid enough for this," she mindlessly mumbled, half asleep. Everyone else was asleep or getting dressed. Midnight was the only one prepared. He sheathed his sword and headed out. The sun shined into his eyes as the world started anew. They were at Tribor, a decently sized town with no defenses to protect them except for a few guards that stopped thieves now and then.
Midnight pulled out the letter and reread it. Giants were scouted not so far from this town and were heading here currently, probably to increase their domain and territory. Their jobs were to stop them or defend the town. Phil came behind him and yawned. He was fully geared up and ready to go. "Good morning," Phil greeted. Midnight nodded in return. Phil started to walk to the town.
Ledias came out of the door and called Phil. "Your not gonna steal some money, are you?" she asked. Phil just shrugged and kept walking. She sighed. "How about going to the blacksmith?" she suggested.
Phil stopped. "Eh, why not. Bring Sorvex. He probably needs repairing," he replied. Ledias went back to the tower and grabbed Sorvex.
"Oh! Before you go!" Zephyr called. Ledias and Midnight faced him. "I have some gifts for you," he said. He took out from his humongous pocket in his robe a large metal box and a staff.
"What's this?" She asked.
"Gifts for my new friends," he said. He gave the staff to Ledias. "This is a healing staff. You can use it whenever you want, but I'll tell you this now. The staff chooses who it wants to heal, so don't be surprised." Ledias nodded and took the staff gratefully. Zephyr then turned towards Midnight and gave him the large metal box. "To be honest, I have no clue what this thing does or what it is, but since you do know magic well, I was wondering if you would solve this mystery." Midnight took the box and strapped it to his back. The box was surprisingly light for being made out of metal, so it is easy to maneuver with it attached to his back. Ledias bowed and grabbed Sorvex and shook him awake.
"Huh? What?" he muttered, half asleep.
"Wanna come Midnight?" Ledias asked. He also nodded in response and followed them.
The town was lively with people going about their daily lives. Mothers were tending to their houses, children roamed and played on the pathways, and shopkeepers stocked their goods. The small group of friends made their way through town. Ledias would heal people passing by when she saw their minor injuries. Phil would pickpocket every single person that brushed his shoulder. Sorvex would try to steal from shops, but was unsuccessful and got banned from them. Midnight just trailed them till they got to the blacksmith.
The blacksmith's sign announced that the shop was open. The group walked in and were greeted by the intense heat of a furnace. The smell of iron and sulfur filled the room. The sound of clanging metal could be heard in the corner. There was a muscular lady working away at a sword. Sparks scattered everywhere as she hammered it. She looked up and saw the adventurers come in. "Welcome," she said, not so enthusiastic.
Phil walked around, looking at all of the gear littering the floor. He walked up to the lady with his group. "We would like to repair and improve our weapons," Phil stated.
"Sure, I've got nothing else to do," she replied. That was a lie. She tossed her half made sword into a bucket of misshapen swords and turned towards them.
