"Does anyone have a strategy to fight against this thing!?" Sorvex asked. The worm gnawed at the huge structure, trying to digest it whole. "Can't you, I don't know, zap that thing to hell with your voodoo magic?""Voodoo!?" Zephyr was offended that someone called his superior magic "voodoo" magic. "First of all, it's not 'voodoo' magic! It's a complicated web of multiple types of arcane magic! Second of all, I'm a cloud giant, not a storm giant." He took out his staff and pointed towards the worm. The clouds above tumbled and lightning struck the staff. The pure energy accumulated into a single point on the staff, then shot out of it towards the worm. The huge lightning bolt struck the worm, but it only removed a few scales. The scales already started to grow back. "And three, my magic is very ineffective against it."
"Well, don't we have cannons?" Slayer pointed towards the tower.
"Oh yeah..." Zephyr ran towards the tower. "You guys do something while I get the cannons!" he yelled.
The worm kept trying to eat the building, its mouth nearly covering the whole thing. Midnight took action first. He went forward and summoned fire to the tips of his fingers. The ball of flame condensed into a white spherical orb of hot energy. He launched it towards the worm. The orb exploded, sending a huge shockwave around the monster as it screeched. The scales on its body launched everywhere, scattering through the dunes of sand. The scales found its way towards the party, but luckily they dodged them just as the scale slammed into the ground, causing a mini explosion. The worm's flesh in a certain area was being burnt off, and the immense pain that it felt made the worm let go of the building and dig into the sand.
"Did we... win?" Slayer wondered. His question was answered by the ground as the floor split open and the worm came flying out of it. The monster shot out scales everywhere, using them as projectile weapons against its foes. The party scrambled for cover, behind cactuses, dunes of sands, rocks, anywhere they could be protected by, but it was all in vain as the scales smashed through all of them, sending the party flying out of the way. Midnight stood strong against the onslaught of the scales. He sent as many damaging spells towards the worm to no avail. The scales that were sent as weapons or blown off by the spells grew back as fast as it left the worm's skin.
"Here are you cannons!" Zephyr called. The giant dragged five cannons, tied by a rope, and he placed them by the party. They scrambled to the cannons, and realized that there were no cannon balls to fire.
"Where's the ammunition!?" Phil yelled while shooting at the worm with his crossbow in vain.
"Whoops, forgot about that. Tee-hee." The giant said while tapping his forehead.
"Don' 'tee-hee' me! Now what are we going to do?" As Phil and Zephyr were arguing, Midnight collected the large purple scales using Levitate and brought them to the cannons.
Orinus understood what he was doing. "Guys! Let's use the scales as ammunition," he called as he loaded up the cannons with the purple scales.
"Good idea." Zephyr said as he helped them load the scales. The party went to work with Midnight gathering the scales, Slayer blasting incoming projectiles with his red hot flames, and Ledias placing the spell Divine Smith on each of the new ammunition.
"Ledias, you shouldn't. You'll be using too much magic," Phil said as he tried to push Ledias away gently.
She smiled softly, her face pale from the overuse of magic spells. "It's for the greater good."
After a few minutes, they were ready to use the cannons and pointed them at the worm. The worm had returned to eating the building while trying to cover its wounds with regrowing scales. They aimed at the worm's injury with the cannons. "Fire!" Phil yelled as the scales soared through the skies, sailing towards its target.
