Justin was still trying to convince Alexander that they weren't enemies."Please Alexander, believe us! We didn't kill Sancho and we're not monsters," Justin pleaded.
The battlefield was silent except for a few horses shuffling and the soldiers coughing.
"If you didn't kill Sancho, then where is he?" Alexander asked.
Justin hesitated first a moment. She couldn't tell them that they were in the basement or else the mansion would be stormed by the troops and Ledias would be killed since they still looked like monsters. They had to give enough time for them to find the cure.
Before Justin could say anything else, the clone of Ledias walked up to Alexander from the crowds. She put her hands on her shoulder and went close to his ear. "They're lying," she whispered, but somehow Justin and her crew could hear her from there. "They're monsters, they'll do anything to get you off of their back. The moment you believe them, they'll take you out from behind. Plus, if Sancho was really alive and well, as they claimed, wouldn't he be standing there right now with them?"
Alexander sighed and nodded. "I guess you're right." He turned towards the monsters and frowned. "I'm sorry, whether you're telling the truth or not, it is my duty to protect my people from threatening monsters."
"But s-sir!" Justin called was she took another step forward. The soldiers shifted uneasily and pointed their weapons at her.
"Don't take another step forward. You could have some devious plan ready at your disposal," Alexander said as placed his hand on his short sword that was sheathed to his side.
Ledias pat Alexander's shoulder. "In fact," she yelled out loud, "I can sense an aggressive attack incoming now!" She looked over at Phil and smirked. She mouthed to him, "you're not gonna win," before disappearing into the crowds once more.
The soldiers started to freak out and look around, searching for where the attack was coming from. The adventurers did the same.
"What attack?" Beth asked as she cast defensive spells on her allies.
"I don't know, but it was probably from our friends down below," Macalvorich replied as she surrounded them in an invisible barrier.
"Stupid Theodore, he's probably doing this," George said as he looked around.
Midnight casted barriers around them while Justin pulled out her flute and started to play a tune that would strengthen them.
At the sides of the hills, four machines popped out with two barrels. They all turned and pointed at the army below them and fired large blue beams of light, instantly evaporating many of their troops of the army.
"You gotta be kidding me!" Phil groaned as he took out his daggers. "Everyone! We need to hold off the army until Ledias and the rest of them find the 'cure!' Until then, take out our clones and push them back! Try to use the flats if your blades please?"
"Even f-for our clones?" Justin asked.
"No. Go all out against them. Slit their throats if you want. Let's just buy enough time for our friends. Let's go!" Phil ordered as he ran to where the cannons was.
"Oh god, we're all gonna die," Ace said as he charged towards the crowd. The soldiers saw him as the frost giant that he was, so they all screamed and tried to run away. Some of them threw their spears at the giant or shot their bows, but their weapons flew straight through the giant. Ace roared at them and stomped his gigantic foot on the ground, shaking the earth, well, that's what it looked like for the soldiers. Ace was actually screaming curse words at them and flailing his wings wildly. His five foot height was menacing to them.
