"Come on (Y/N)! You can't be that tired already?" Ludwig lightly chuckled.

"I-I'm not tired. I just need to catch my breath is all." You said softly, out of embarrassment. After you caught your breath, you ran up the hill to catch up with your boyfriend. Today was a nice day off for both of you. Ludwig was a scientist and you were a young graduate doctor. Though you wheezed from running up the hill, you gasped at the sight before you. You always loved the German countryside. Though you were from America, you felt like Germany was your home. Ludwig laid out the blanket and you laid out the plates, food, and wine. When everything was ready, you and Ludwig took your seats and started to eat. After all the food was gone, and when you and Ludwig had enough wine, you and he cuddled close to each other.

"(Y/N)?" Ludwig asked kindly.

"Yes beloved Ludwig?" You responded.

"Do you remember when we first met?" Ludwig asked, with a smile graced upon his face.

"Of course! Why wouldn't I?" You answered. Ludwig shrugged and laid on the ground. As he laid there, you wondered why he would ask if you remembered the day you met. During your thoughts, Ludwig pulled you to the ground. You and he cuddled close and fell asleep in each other's arms.

Flashback

"Germany is so beautiful!" You mumbled, as you roamed the German countryside. Your grandmother lived in Germany all her life, but she had gotten terribly ill. So, you put all of your money into a ticket so you can live with your grandmother. She lived out in the countryside, so you had a ways to walk. You have been taking care of her for 3 months now. You had to get a job, which wasn't bad. As you walked home from the grocery store, you looked around the long green hills. When you were staring off, you noticed three dogs run up the hill. One looked like German Shepard. Another looked like a Golden Retriever. And the last one looked like a Doberman. You wondered who the dogs belonged to. You stopped in your tracks, however, the dogs noticed you were there. They started barking loudly and ran toward you. As they circled around you they sniffed, barked, and happily started pouncing on you.

"C-Come on boys! Please get off of me." You whined, but one of the dogs sat on your back and started panting proudly.

"Aster! Blackie! Berlitz! Heel!!" A masculine voice orders. The dog on top of you ran toward his master, and so did the other two. As you tried to get up, you noticed you were in a lot of pain. A hand was held out to you. You looked up at the hand's owner and saw a handsome, muscular man with blond hair and blue eyes. His face was stern, yet gentle. You gladly took the hand and made your way to your feet. The man looked down at the scattered fruits and vegetables, and hastily picked them up. Putting them back in your bag, he gave the bag back to you.

"I'm so sorry about my dogs young lady. They don't usual do that to people." The man tries to explain. You put up your hand up in defense, in order to stop his words.

"I-It's really ok. I actually love dogs, so it's not a problem." You defended.

"But they knocked you down and sat on you. I have to apologize for my dogs behavior." The man responded.

"Well, if you think you have to apologize, than you can. However, I have had no reason to think you were in the wrong, so what the point of apologizing?" You politely shot back. The man was about to say something back, but held his tongue.

"M-My name is Ludwig Beilschmidt. It's nice to meet you, and thank you forgiving my dogs." Ludwig introduced.

"My name's (Y/N) (L/N), and just like I said. I love dogs! So I can't help it but forgive the little angels." You kindly said.

"Well (Y/N), at least let me pay you back for your now bruised fruit." Before you can say anything, he gently grabs your hand and places the money in your hand.

"I can't possibly take this money! It's yours!! Please take it back." You cutely demand. Ludwig sighs, and shook his head.

"Then take the money, as  a reward for your beauty..." Half way through his words, he gets slower. His cheeks flare into a deep red shade, and so do you. You nod your head and ran off. Ludwig watches you retreat; wondering if he'll see your beautiful face again. The next day you walked home with another bag of groceries, when you saw dogs come running toward you. You put the bag down and run toward the dogs. This time, they didn't bark. They were happy to see you.

"What are your names again? Sit Aster, Berlitz, and... Blackie!" You command. All dogs sit down happily and stare at your kind face. You pet the dogs, until the man you met yesterday came up to you and the dogs. Aster, Berlitz, and Blackie ran toward their master. You retreated to your bag of groceries and walked up to Ludwig.

"Sorry about them." Ludwig apologized.

"It's okay. I actually kinda wanted to see you again... I mean the dogs! I wanted to see the dogs again." You stammered.

"You wanted to see me again too?" He asked.

"Yeah..." You slowly reply.

"Well if that's the case do you want to go out for beer sometime?" He asked. 'Wait? Is he asking me out!?'

"S-Sure... Why not!" After you agreed to a date, you and Ludwig exchanged numbers. The many bar dates were successful, and eventually you and he feel in love. Love went to marriage. You were happy.

---

You started to smile, as you woke up from your dream. Ludwig got done with packing up the picnic. He looked at you with a gentle smile.

"Oh good, you're awake. I thought I would have to wake you up." Ludwig sweetly spoke. You got up and started to walk down the hill, with Ludwig by your side.

"I had a dream about how we met." You stated.

"Was it nice?"

"It was perfect."
