"I lost you in the crowd, and the clock has struck twelve, but I'll always remember you, even tomorrow and the day after."
Your POV
"Stop squirming would you?!" My best friend yelled at me.
"I'm sorry! I just—I don't know. I've never gone to a ball before, let alone a masquerade ball!" I exclaimed.
"Okay and squealing about it is not going to do anything. If anything it's going to make your hair more crusty than it already is," she scoffed.
"Rude."
She smirked, running the yellow comb through my soft hair. Just for my sanity, my hair is not crusty. The brush delicately straightened every follicle on my head, shining as each piece fell into place alongside the done part.
A friend of a friend had invited me to this ball at her mansion in an attempt to release her inner love of the sixteen hundreds. It was also supposed to help bring her brother out of his room because he had apparently been locked in there since he got assigned this big project for his work.
"Can't you come with me?" I begged.
"No. You were invited. Not me. Plus, I have a date tonight," she chuckled.
"Ugh I get it, you have a love life, jeez!" I groaned.
"Quit whining and sit still please. I need to finish your hair and do your makeup still, and we only have an hour left!" She announced.
I pouted in my chair, watching as she treated every lock with the utmost care. When she finally started on my makeup, she started rushing because we had no time left.
"You have no concept of time management," I sighed.
Even though she was rushed, my makeup did come out pretty flawless.
"Now go change into the dress while I get my idiot brother," she said.
While she went to get her brother, I quickly changed into my gown.
It was a royal blue gown with emerald dust sprinkled on. It wasn't too fancy, but it was so regal that it looked absolutely stunning. And of course to finish it off, I put on a matching blue mask with emeralds stuck in around it.
I felt beautiful to be quite honest. There's something so uplifting about hiding your face. It made me feel, confident.
After a few minutes, my friend comes back in looking a little dejected and guilty.
"You okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine. But your date isn't doing so hot. He buried himself so far down in work, he sort of forgot about this. And then he slammed the door in my face. But don't feel bad! You can still have a great time!" She exclaimed.
I chuckled, "I don't need a date to have a good time. It's a masquerade ball after all. It's time to meet some fellas."
She let out a giggle as she went to change into her dress.
If I was being honest, I was a little bummed, one because I was going to be a third wheel, and two, I kinda sorta had a teensy tiny little crush on Jimin, her brother. But she doesn't know that.
