I did as planned and explored campus for the rest of the day. Even though I wasn't able to stop thinking about Jace for one second, I managed to find the right buildings and rooms for my seminars. I'm relieved that I won't have any trouble finding them on Monday. When I head back to my dorm room at around four in the afternoon, all of the events from this weekend are still scattering through my mind. I'm not able to stop thinking about Jace for one second. Every time I think about seeing him again tonight, I feel all sorts of things. On my way back I decide to pick up some late lunch. I need a little comfort food to calm my nerves about the party tonight. I twist the key and open the door to my room, and almost startle when I notice that I'm no longer alone.
"Hey, my name's Bree! I'm your new roommate" the girl standing in my, or I guess our room, says.
I scan her quickly. She has bright blond hair that's about the length of her shoulders. I smile at her perkiness immediately, she lights up the whole room.
"I'm Mila, it's nice that you're finally here. I was worried I was going to be alone all semester" I answer, dropping my purse on my bed.
"No, I just decided to come in a day late since I had a family thing. I arrived about ten minutes ago" she says, and only then do I notice all of her boxes scattered around the room, just like mine did yesterday.
"Sounds good. Do you need any help?" I smile back at her, as she gratefully accepts.
We talk for a little while, and establish that we have the same major, and overall a lot of interests in common as we start to decorate our room together, coming up with new ideas by the second.
"So, where are you from?" Bree asks me.
"I live thirty minutes away, so not far at all. How about you?"
"I'm from Portland, I need a little change of scenery at least" she answers, and I feel like she has a deeper reason I don't know about yet.
"I have always wanted to visit Portland, but never had the chance."
"You totally should! And if you do, I'll make sure to tell you all about the most amazing spots" Bree beams at me.
I love her. She seems to be one of the most carefree people on this earth, being in her presence makes me feel light.
"Hey, do you have anything planned for tonight?" she asks me, emptying her last bag while doing so.
"Funny story, actually. There's this guy I met yesterday, and he's picking me up at eight tonight to go to a party" I tell her, and blush a little just thinking about Jace and his perfect brown eyes.
Bree lets out a little scream. "Really? What guy? Tell me everything" she says eagerly.
I explain the events of yesterday and today, and Bree is just as concerned yet as excited as I am.
