CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT
———————————
"Goodness this woman packs a lot for just a one month visit." Natalie mumbles and I release a chuckle as the two of us puts the suitcase in our hands into the back of the open boot. The month is finally at its end, Julia is officially leaving and to be honest, I'm going to miss her. These last four weeks with her have been fun and without her arrival, I wouldn't of been able to know Mitchell more.
"Better safe than sorry." I state.
Before Natalie can reply, out the front door walks Mitchell with his grandma beside him who carries a small bag over her shoulder. Mitchell appears to be sad, but whatever he's talking about with his grandma seems to makes him smile just a little. The conclusion I've come to these past four weeks is that Mitchell cares about his family, especially his grandma and I can see why. She's the kind of person you want to be around forever.
"You take care of my grandson now." Julia tells me before wrapping her arms around me once the two reached where we were, near the car. I hold back my tears as I wrap my arms around her in return "I'm going to miss you dear, but it was so nice meeting you." She whispers in my ear. My eyes connect with Mitchell's who gives me a small smile as he looks at the interaction between Julia and I.
"I'm going to miss you too." I whisper back before sniffing.
She pulls away, but keeps her hands on my arms "now there's no need for that-." She says as she wipes away the tear that fell down my cheek "I'll see you soon sweetie." She finishes before giving me a small smile. She then turns to Mitchell before immediately wrapping him into a hug as she did me. I hear faint whispers, but it's too quiet for me to hear what they're saying.
My eyes look to the front of the house where I see Mr Preston walking out of the door and toward us, carrying suitcases in his hands and bags on his arms. Wow, this woman does pack a lot for only a one month visit. As soon as he reaches us, I can clearly see the sweat that is rolling down his forehead as he goes to the boot and puts everything on him in the boot. Afterward, he breaths a breath of relief.
"Every year." Mr Preston mumbles as he slams the boot shut "Ma!." He exclaims when the boot wouldn't close. We all turn to him and watch as he desperately tries to close the boot, but to no prevail "Mitchell, give a hand." He orders and Mitchell rolls his eyes before listening to his dad. With the both of them leaning on the boot, it finally slams shut and Mr Preston wipes his forehead as if he's just run a marathon.
Julia chuckles "oh son, I think I'm going to miss you the most." She says as she walks to the exhausted man before pulling him into a hug. Mr Preston chuckles at his mother's words and we all watch as the adorable scene folds out in front of us.
"I'm gonna miss you too Ma." Mr Preston tells his mother before the two pull away.
Natalie claps once "well, we should get going if Julia wants to catch her flight on time." She states. After I gave Julia one last hug, the four of them get into the car and begin to drive away as I wave them off. To know that in a few hours, Julia would be on her flight back home made me a little sad.
It's sad that she's leaving; without having a female figure in my life, Julia and Natalie became them in the span of a month and even though, Natalie would still be here; Julia would. However, now that the month is over, I don't think I'd be seeing Natalie either.
With a sad sigh, I turn around and begin to walk to my house; I'll see her again, I tell myself to keep the sadness from taking over.
I'll see her again.
